See, at that point in the season, we were a bubble team at best. A loss in Norma, and we would have been on the outside looking in, and knowing our history in St. Louis, might not have made the dance at all.

AND, we were down 7 points with 45 seconds left in the game. We were on the ropes.
AND, Charmichael had just grabbed a huge rebound. He simply comes down with that clean, and we're almost certain to lose the game.
BUT, Jackie Charmichael did what he had to do to save the day for the Shockers. He decided to try and kick Tekele Cotton in the face. Flagrant 1, made the throws, scored on the possession, next thing you know, we escape with the win.

AND, this gave us (well, me really) the "Charmichael Horizon," which has been a pretty good judge of when a relatively close game is in the bag. If a team can get inside of 45 seconds with a 7 point lead, they are beyond the Charmichael Horizon, and victory is almost assured. The Charmichael Horizon represents the combination of time left and score where, if absolutely everything goes wrong, a team can still lose.

Thank you, Jackie Charmichael, for sending us to our greatest glory yet. I only hope something just as magical happens this weekend in Normal.

But, I'll be okay if it's just Daishon Smith dunking his way into the SC Top Ten.

Realistically, we aren't going unbeaten through this league. 16-2 seemed to be the most realistic. So we're losing 2 games. Obviously this is one people were counting as a L. So really, the pressure is on the Redturds. If they lose the Super Bowl at home, they're going to be playing catch-up and will be forced to win a game in Koch. I don't think that's gonna go over well.

So we're playing with house money with this one. They MUST win to keep their shot at a miracle title alive. And that assumes they perfect the rest of the season against the non-Super Bowl teams. If their history is any indicator, that's not gonna happen.

If I recall, that high karate kick was ignored at first as play continued a few ticks. Then the refs watched on the monitor what the whole world has already witnessed and made the call. Cotton remained cool as a cucumber after getting kicked and jumped right back up like it was a love tap. If he loses his temper in retaliation, a different outcome would have happened. The law of averages rarely allow a win when a team is down that much with so little time left on the clock.

A lot of tickets still left for this game ..... figured they might have a chance to sell out with two 5-0 teams coming in ...

Once MVC play started, I began to think 17-1 is a real possibility. And that one loss would more than likely be this game. I still think we're a better team than Illinois State, but they get a real hard on when they play us, so I expect their absolute best effort. This should be a fun exciting game. I just hope it's a clean one. I'll still predict a very close win for us though.

We need to continue to shoot well from 3 to win. We can't have one of these 3 for 17 clunkers we seem to have every so often.

I predict another solid all around effort for WSU and the birds will do what birds do and crap all over the place.

From what I've seen, their defense reminds me of Louisville, but without the ridiculous length. I think we can turn them over and draw fouls - they aren't that deep. We just need to be disciplined, patient, penetrate, share the ball, and hit our freebies. The battle of the MM's will be key.

                            Shocks 65 - 61.

Will be a tough game and the most likely to be the single
loss in league I predicted day one. Is SM still injured or
just playing that slow and uninspired? If it is the latter then
he needs to be behind EH. If it's an injury then rest him.
If we bring our A game we will be okay but I don't think our
B or below game will suffice. I'll risk the crow and go with
                              them 66-63.
