Leaving Atlanta around 6am for the trip. Four of us going. I have been watching the weather all week and the forecasted precipitation % has dropped and the temperature has risen each day. Looked this morning and it looked dry Sunday morning for our departure. It looks.like we will get some rain on the way home.

Redbirdland. Where yelling at someone is worse than a DUI. Gotta love that board.

That board is pond scum. They act all high and mighty and chastise our board because of the meany things that are said and yet they do the exact same thing.

They want Marshall to move on because of the paltry 5-15 record they have against him.

        Butthurt DOMINATION.
        Deuces Valley.
        ... No really, deuces.

Gotta love the 12-page thread about getting tickets to the game and they aren't even going to get it 3/4 full.

Can't even do a Super Bowl right up there. They haven't been to an NCAA Tournament since Monica and Bill were playing ping-pong in the White House and yet their program is already maxed out.

Meanwhile in Wichita, 10,000+ show up to watch the Shocks play a D2 school.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

Is that how many were there for the Drake game?

Shockers already gearing up for the February 4th return match with the Redbirds.

                Yellow Out

I guess our Super Bowl as well! Or they sense a good opportunity to sell some Homecoming T-Shirts.

They stated their last sell out was 2009 .... EIGHT years ago ....

The major prognosticators are not unanimous, but the majority have the Shockers winning at Illinois State's Annual Super Bowl game against our Shocker:

                      Nolan (-1.0)
                      Massey +1.0
                      RPI Forecst +3.8
                      Sagarin +5.8
                      Vegas +2.5 opened, current +4.0 at 3:30pm 01/13/17

I'll go with the majority and take WSU by 5 in overtime, with five straight made free-throws to seal the win:

"will the defendant please rise" - 74
                      Shockers - 79

It is interesting, and embarrassing, reading feedback here about our board. I agree, it doesn't paint the prettiest picture. I'm pretty sure we've sold out a game or two since 2009, but even if you can count that on one hand, in eight years, it's sad.

The thing to remember about Bloomington-Normal is this: It's the fair-weather capital of the world. Like Evansville and Indy St, we struggle to consistently get good crowds, even with good teams, because people just don't buy in. When we struggle, there's instantly other options to do. When we're good it's "too good to be true." Or, "it's on TV so why bother?" Or, "there's 3 snowflakes out there, can't go to the game."

It's unfortunate, but it is what it is. Having U of I right down the road doesn't help either, as there are a lot of Illini fans in B-N. Oh well. But those are just excuses really. The reality is, it's awfully hard to pack 'em into the arena when you haven't been to the tournament in 19 years. And there are a lot of folks who've given up and believe we are now a football school anyway.

Thus are the joys of ISU fandom :)
I am a diehard Illinois State Redbird fan first, and an MVC supporter, diplomat, and ambassador of good will second.

You wouldn't happen to be one of these football school believers would you @Phantom:?

3:15 - @DanMuller of ISU Basketball will join us to talk about the biggest game at Redbird Arena in a couple decades on @ESPNPeoria

Weird. I would think having the #5 team in the country come to your place in 2014 or even the #15 team in the country in 2015 would be a bigger game than an unranked squad. I suppose getting your @$$&$ handed to you in those games (although 2015 was a close ballgame) would take the shine off of those really quickly.

                            But what do I know?

I don't think it's unreasonable that this is a bigger game for them. This game can help them (a) Win a league championship and (b) get into the NCAA tournament. That wasn't the case with those previous games.
