I wasn't able to quickly find the posts but you can confirm with Shockerriffic since it was his kenpom account I was using all these years. He knows and can vouch for me.

This whole conversation is just so ridiculous. Why should you have to provide "proof" that you used kenpom in previous years?

I just did a quick google search and you mention on this page that you were using kenpom: http://shockernet.net/forum/showthread.php?9996-Pick-em-games-for-Feb-26/page2

On my phone so no hyperlink

I'll admit it for evidence, counselor.

Btw, you can win them with it, just as anyone with any sort of common sense could.
I guess you have your proof now.

Did I just understand you to say that it would just be common sense for anyone wanting to win to use stats?

You act as if it's cheating or something. None of the pick'em is pure guesses (although mine appear to be). Where does one drawn the line at this cheating? KenPom, RPI, knowing who won/lost their last game, who they've beaten and who they've lost to?

Your claimed intent could have been easily accomplished with a simple PM instead of creating a whole thread asking other posters to weigh in on whether they are surprised/disappointed by the non participation of our fellow posters.
I wasn't thinking about you drawing any conclusions; I was confident historical posting dynamics would generate the inclusion of KenPom data in the Pick-em Contest. Perhaps a PM would have worked but as I have no personal relationship with JH4P I chose this thread to capture KenPom data and to have some fun with contributing willing posters.

I always thought it would be interesting to make pick em against the spread. You could modify it so you just make 5 ATS picks without assigning points.

So ridiculous that you're fully engaged with it on your cellphone, posting about it.

No, you misunderstood. I said it's just as likely that someone will win this contest with a decent amount of common sense as someone strictly going by the analytics bible spreadsheets.

No... it's not cheating. I said if you use some of these rankings and stats as a guide, that's one thing. But to make predictions based on someone else making predictions takes no brain function at all. You're not thinking about the game at all - you're copying and pasting someone else's dirty work.

I just assumed everyone picking these games were just seeing the games and making snap judgments based on what they've seen, what they think will happen, and a few other factors. I really didn't expect people to actually go digging around and getting offensive and defensive derivatives for a free message board pick'em contest, but hey, who knew?

That would be pretty cool. It would be a true coin flip in every aspect of the pick. I don't think the analytic geek squad would be too thrilled about it though.

There would be a lot of folks that averaged ~ 5 points per week.
