it appeared to me that Hamilton got his 8 minutes because HCGM knew that he would at least play hard.

The blowout versus OSU could not have happened at a worse time in that the AAC appears to be seriously considering our selection to their conference as a BB only sport.. We can only hope that the AAC Heads, their school AD’s, and coaches are intelligent enough to understand that one game in a rebuilding year does not take precedence over the outstanding record WSU and Coach Marshall have built over the last 10 years or so. Unfortunately, there are always soothsayers looking for the slightest flaw and it may only take one or two.

At times last night, JRS was our only guard who was not totally out of control.

While I do not disagree with REF, Connor made at least three nice plays sinking a three, driving to the basket and passing the ball off (which is done way too infrequently by this year’s crew), and driving to the FT line and sinking an easy shot. He needs to do this more often.

Our whole problem with our guard play this year is absolutely and totally the fault of Fred and Ron. After listening to many both prior to the start of the season and now, it is obviously their fault from factors ranging that all our other players last year just stood around waiting for them to take action (guess what, they are still doing it) and that good guards did not want to come here because they would not get to play, and on and on.

If we follow this complete nonsense, then you have to conclude that we should never, ever recruit two guards equal to or better than Fred and Ron to play together. Someone ought to clue GM in on this. And then duck.

It also didn't help when ShaQ was called for a foul in the first few minutes for taking a charge. That's just gotta screw with your head. Nothing worse than playing within the rules only to have refs continue to make the same mistakes game in and game out.

Dude, c'mon. I know blaming the refs is basically a sport, but that wasn't even close to a charge. It was crazy how slowly Shaq responded to help. He didn't come within 3 feet of clearing the block/charge line.

We may not be talking about the same call. Or we may be. I admit I was watching the game on ESPN3 so I was without the benefit of a replay...but man it sure looked to me like ShaQ was a statue and that litle kid bounced off getting a favorable whistle.

Regardless...I ain't even close to blaming the refs for that loss. We just simply got whipped up and down the block. BUT...you gotta acknowledge ShaQ gets a terrible call at least once (and usually twice) per game sending him to the bench early.

No, we don't gotta acknowledge that Shaq gets an undeserved foul every game (and usually two). That's not the "other side" of the realm of opinions. You may disagree, but it is possible for people to believe Shaq gets himself into foul trouble, and that refs screwing him over happens on occasion, but not "usually twice" per game.

Agree. Most of the fouls called on Shaq are legitimate fouls. However, I do not believe Shaq gets the benefit of the same non-calls that others get, thus it appears that Shaq is getting screwed and getting "undeserved" fouls.

That's a fine opinion to hold. My point was less about anyone's personal opinion that Shaq gets screwed, and more about @AZ Shocker:'s claim that EVERYONE MUST AGREE WITH HIM that Shaq gets screwed regularly.

Based on Shaq's reactions most fouls called on him are undeserved, but I agree he probably gets less benefit of the doubt.

Shamet's D on that was much worse. Forte simply knew he had him (position wise) and blew by him, thereby, Shaq getting called for a foul that shouldn't have happened.

That's exactly the case on this play. The overall lack of on-ball pressure (a la Fred and Ron) in the half-court sets simply allows the offensive to begin its attack without contention. Makes the entry pass or the dribble drive easy and when the help defense collapses, the perimeter is left wide open.
