That's pretty pathetic that players are now having to mention it in interviews. Pathetic that the media is now taking notice of this.

This is not a good look at all. It makes you wonder how many 10's of students would show up if we were an NIT-level team.

Is there zero organization at all now? I thought Marshallville and Maniacs combined forces or something? There has to be organization and more importantly, there has to be butts in seats. If free can't get you out, then I don't know what will. And it's not just students. There have been lots of no-shows lately and just in general, a lazy, spoiled, no-energy fanbase. Makes me sick. I know Marshall notices it as well and it's a matter of time before he drops a bomb of words.

Just so much embarrassing. And the president wants this to be a "traditional" university. Ha. Something needs to change. NOW.

Shocker Maniacs and Go Shockers are the reason for this. They are a total failure. There is so much politics involved in the Athletic Department. They have never once advertised student tickets this year. And the whole student section isn't bad... I've shown up 4-5 hours before every game plus camping out for the past 2 years along with some others. We're (students) trying to get students out, they just don't care. Why don't we get any recognition? The people that show up every game 4 hours before game time? Why isn't GoShockers advertising student tickets? This is all on GoShockers, IMO. I'll wait to be criticized by all of y'all. Let's hear it.

Btw, Marshallville's coat/shoe drive was a huge success, and a huge thank you to every one that donated or helped out.

“We had pitched a shutout for eight minutes and I thought the guys deserved a bigger hand than they were getting,” Marshall said. “I tried to juice up the crowd a little bit, to no avail. I didn’t get that done.”

We notice it, the players notice it, and Marshall notices it too. This isn't just bad, this is scary. 3G turns down bigger offers because he believes he can have just as much success here (if not more), but if the fan base seems to lose interest.. Who's to say he doesn't change his mind and look for greener pastures? I'm not making any assumptions but this is a horrible look for us right now. There are zero excuses for not selling out every night anymore. I don't know if there has to be some kind of mix up in the marketing for the games but something has to change. Soon.

Also, there are just as many season ticket holder seats that aren't being filled but you don't notice it cause it's spread out. There is a section in 120 where 3 rows of 8+ seats that are never filled.

It's rather alarming. Marshall was PUMPED at the defensive effort. The crowd ran with it for a couple moments and then it went back into comatose.

              This fanbase sucks right now.

Students, you have been put on notice. These players give 110% and they came to WSU for a reason, and part of that was the atmosphere at Koch and the fans. Needs to change because the players deserve better than this.
Why don't you go tell the students this? Posting on Shockernet won't do anything. Why don't you say something to the Athletic office?

Also I don't think it's just the students. The entire fan base isn't very good right now. I remember the last couple of years, when we would go on a run, everyone would stand up and start cheering. Hasn't happened this year. I think it's a disgrace that the student section isn't filling up, but I'm open to suggestions to try and get students out.

The cost has become prohibitive for some (not the students). Many season ticket holders do not show and put their seats on Stub Hub. Stub Hub charges extra fees which still makes it prohibitive for some people to go.

Example: I paid $50 each for 3 $14 tickets to the Intrust game. I could have purchased them a couple of weeks earlier for $14 each. Instead, some people purchased what was left and made money by reselling them. At the time, I wasn't sure I could go, so when I finally realized I could go, the $14 tickets were gone from he Intrust site and on Stub Hub for $50 each.

I'm sure this happens at Koch too. Some people do sell them for what they have invested, but then you add on the Stub Hub fee and it gets crazy.

I am not here to make excuses, but tough to get up for our home slate thus far. Savvy fans know how bad SLU sucks right now. Pitching a shutout against them isn't like shutting out the "Showtime" Lakers. Not to mention that NOBODY understands Gen Z, which is our current crop of students. Need to dump a few of these home games in favor of some competitive home and home, or-gasp-buy games.

These statements are ridiculous. 400 students showed up for a game where their tickets are free. I paid somewhere around $80.00 for tonight's game and was engaged as much as I could be.

The empty seats are a problem but the bigger problem is that the people who do show up are showing up as breathing corpses. Marshall had to point it out after his team shut a team out with 8 minutes of scoreless basketball.

It really shows the players how much you care when you just sit there like zombies and act disinterested. The Koch "atmosphere" sucks balls. Spoiled and entitled.

I get this too but at least act like you give a damn through part of the game before it hits full-blown blowout stage. At least stand up and make some noise after an opponent has to call a timeout because they're getting their heads pounded into the sand.

It didn't help that right after he pumped up the crowd, there was a timeout and the started playing something stupid on the video board.

The in-game/marketing department leaves a lot to be desired. They certainly aren't helping this situation.
