I don't feel the box office is to blame. Fans have become spoiled by having a team the last few years who have won 75-80%+ of their games and playing a D2 opponent mid week 8 games into the year was going to be difficult to attract an energetic crowd. Throw in the (highly discussed) promos during breaks instead of the band and students were well aware it was going to be a "boring" game.
I realize basketball is a winter sport, but I'd like to see some tailgating type activities before these early season games while the weather is nice. I do wish beer was an option at Koch or the student center was closer to the arena for pregame enjoyment. I think these things make for more of the "experience" people now a days demand.

We can bring beer into Eck for baseball, but not for NCAA regional/super regional. But we can buy beer at IBA and St Louis for basketball, but it was dry NIT finals at MSG in NY.
