WSU Versus LSU Predictions and Pregame Discussions
The LSU men’s basketball team went through a couple of hours of practice and scouting report work Tuesday in preparation for Wednesday’s opening round game in the sixth “Battle 4 Atlantis” against Wichita State.
I'm thinking the Wichita State scouting report work will be a tad bit more robust than that offered by the LSU staff.
i'm liking the espirit decorpts of this team. (except somebody said that connor is getting iced out by somebody else? c'mon, now)
we need the full team effort the rest of this week. nothing less. the shocker plague. like a plague of locusts, coming in from every direction, blinding.
First game away from Koch arena. How will we respond?
good thing is that wichita state is young but not too young. though an unknown without fvv and baker, they are hardly the youngest team in the country, a 'la bradley last year. does lsu have more experience, total minutes from their squad? i don't know.

No, LSU does not have more experience. Pretty similar to the Shockers really. They have only 2 seniors, like the Shocks, who play very little. A combined 4 minutes over LSU's 1st 3 games.
Among the their 10 players who might see the floor against the Shocks they have 5 Juniors, 2 Sophomores and 3 Freshmen. The Shocks top 10 consists of 7 Juniors, 1 Sophomore and 2 Freshmen. 2 of the Shocks Juniors are juco transfers. So I would say experience is pretty similar.
Size wise LSU starter's average 6-6.5, 210 lbs vs WSU starters at 6.525, 213 lbs (Shaq helps with the beef side of the equation).
LSU's 2nd five average 6-6.5, 227 lbs vs WSU's 2nd five at 6-6.5, 205 lbs (LSU's number is skewed by their 7-1, 290 lb center who only plays 7 minutes a game -- while WSU has to make up for comparative lightweights with Daishon at 175 and Austin at 179 -- of course, hard to measure the weight of the speed and smarts those two bring to bear). Considering the LSU behemonth doesn't play much the teams are actually relatively even in the size department as well.
I do have a caution for LSU though -- You don't pull on superman's cape, you don't spit into the wind, you don't pull the mask off the ol' lone ranger and you don't mess around with Slim.

We're going to lose by 7. The Shox have feasted on rebuilding or lower tier programs. This will be their first test playing against just as athletic if not more competition and they'll get punched in the nose and not know how to react. We have too many newcomers on this team that have yet to experience the level of athleticism and skill P5 players bring to the table.
This game will bring them back down to earth and after losing to LSU, will have gained valuable experience and will win the next two games. It'll suck playing through the loser's bracket, but the experience the newcomers will gain will pay dividends down the road.
