I will refrain from a prediction primarily because I have no idea and I am lousy at it. What I am looking forward to with this tournament is to get a more grounded feel for exactly where this Shocker team is. Winning the opening game against LSU will certainly go a long way towards setting us up to find that out.

It will be more than a little disappointing if that doesn't happen.

One thing I do see with this team is that they seem to readily eat the pablum the coaching staff is feeding them. So I'm sure they will be ready to go Wednesday. Hopefully, they aren't too amped up.

You'll have to dig to find basketball discussion, because it's still football season.

Here is one thread they have going on the game: http://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/l...tate/67099082/
Heck, we've had longer discussions than that about the font on new uniforms.

This is but one of the many facets that favors our Shox. Having Jans back on the staff doing his usual stellar scouting of opponents and offering in game observations about adjustment puts this team a step ahead of our opponents.

Add to that an extremely talented, long and athletic roster that goes at least ten deep and multiply it by the determined and focused coaching of 3G and you have a very nice formula for winning every game you play.

This won't be a blow out but I think our defense and depth will wear down the Tigers and they'll be leaving their "droppings" on the court. There's a 20 point difference between our PPG scored and PPG allowed (93.3 ppg and 56.5 opp ppg) compared to theirs (82.3 ppg and 66.7 opp ppg). We've both played lesser opponents. I like our chances.

                      "Basketball’s Most Threatening Non-Conference Matchups" - SB*Nation

Who should Tigers fans be eyeing before conference play begins?

"The LSU Tigers have never been a basketball powerhouse, but they're still a relatively large school in a solid conference. They may be 3-0 so far, but the real season doesn't start for LSU until after Christmas- their conference schedule starts on December 29th.

That doesn't guarantee they'll be unbeaten against non-conference opponents. Stunners can happen, especially when small rosters are involved like in basketball, but these three foes could take LSU down.

The first foe to watch for is the aptly named Wichita State Shockers, the most recent team to go unbeaten in the regular season. Their offense isn't particularly strong, but their defense is seventh in Division I, their rebounding ranks 15th, and they're 4-0, including an 80-53 victory over Tulsa. They won't be an easy team to score on, so LSU's offense has to shoot efficiently to have a chance. LSU will face the Shockers in the first round of the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament the day before Thanksgiving. If LSU can beat the Shockers, the Bahamas tournament could see the Tigers face some tough basketball blue bloods like Louisville, Baylor, and Michigan St."

I know it's early so the advanced analytics aren't really robust yet but here are a few observations from KenPom.

                            In LSU's favor:
They don't turn the ball over very often, a must if you are to survive against the Shockers. More than that, they almost never give up steals (ranked first in KenPom here) so they avoid what 3G would call "Atomic Bomb" turnovers, so we may not see many run outs, limiting our strength in the open court.

                            In WSU's favor:
LSU gives up offensive rebounds on nearly a third of opponents shots. Expect a big day on the glass for Rashard, Markis and company.

Most every other stat is close to even with the shockers having the slight but clear edge.

LSU is supposed to get some reinforcements but I just don't see how we could be any less than 10 point favorites here.

                            WSU-75
                            LSU-65

Did this guy do any research? WSU not the last team to go unbeaten in the regular season, also he has not seen us play, or he would not say our offense is "not particularly strong". This was not even worth the time he took to write it.
