Pettit and Cliff Hagen had pretty good success in the short time St. Louis had the Hawks.

After I thought about your post, I was surprised that #33 would have been available for Shaq given the years between their collegiate careers.

LSU retired #50 for Pettit, however, he did apparently wear #33 his freshman year (when frosh didn't play varsity). Another teammate already was wearing #33, so Pettit change to #50 (I found that on an LSU team picture as well as finding Pettit wearing #33 in what looks like a him as a freshman).

Not a lot gonna get done at work before the holiday. A cute Wednesday morning tilt.

We MUST win this game to make this tournament worth it, at least from a SOS perspective. I hope the boys are ready.

I wish I had watched an LSU game, but after looking at the box scores of their previous games, my confidence has gone up.

LSU is 3-0, but they're not exactly blowing out the cupcakes they played. Their last game, they beat North Florida at home by only 8 points (and shot 56% from the FREE THROW LINE). They seem to only have three bench players that play significant minutes which will play to our advantage of depth. Their starting point guard is not a scorer at all, and they appear to only have one threat in their 2 guard, Blakeney. We should run away with this one in the 2nd half.

                      Updated prediction:

                      Shocks: 81
                      Tigers: 65

Let's not forget that Craig Victor will return for the tigers on Wednesday. He's a 6'9 junior that averaged 11.5 points per game last year. http://www.lsunow.com/daily/he-s-bac...b9c85fbc6.html

I expect a tough fought, lower scoring game.

We share a common analysis of LSU, I too think the Shockers should win and advance to play Louisville (if the Cardinals beat ODU?).

Yep. I have said it since the pairings were announced. The significance is EXACTLY like the 2010 Maui except with a much more beatable opponent in this first game.

Geez, I'm still pissed about Kemba Walker getting Michael Jordan treatment in that game. That blocking foul on Durley that could have been (AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN) a charge on Walker (and his fourth foul) early/mid second half was a huge call.
