The p5 have already told the ncaa how they want football to be handled and the way a playoff should happen. I really think it is only a matter of time until they decide to have their own basketball tournament without all of the other "distractions" because once again its about the money and they don't want to split it up except among themselves. Greedy bastards

I think a p5 only tournament would be a slap in the face to the long great history of college basketball. Many of the schools that founded the game are not big Football schools. (Including KU).
They could destroy a truly special sporting event.Last edited by top20shock; February 26, 2017, 11:09 PM.

Please AAC..... I beg you......
Gonzaga is going to be in the same boat too. As is Dayton, VCU, etc.
Wish they could get together and form a super basketball conference. They could pool together some of the AAC's and MWC's basketball teams only too.
Something like:
- WSU (MVC)
- Zaga (WCC)
- BYU (WCC)
- VCU (A10)
- Dayton (A10)
- SDSU (MWC)
- UNLV (MWC)
- New Mexico (MWC)
- Cinci (AAC)
- UCONN (AAC)
- SMU (AAC)
- Memphis (AAC)
Kill the regular definition of "conference alignment"., make the Independent Basketball CoalitionThe Assman

The NCAA BB tournament is by far the best tournament in all of sports. So many different teams from Div 1 schools all over country, from the Power 5 down to the lower D-1 conferences get a chance that they often do not get during the regular season. And that is to play, and sometimes even beat one of the so called Blue Bloods of the BB world.
Like AZ Shocker indicated, a tremendous number of fans throughout the country love to pull for the underdog small school. And this is what makes the tournament great besides increasing the TV revenue.
If they try and make a major change and create an only Power 5 conference tournament, they may very well cut their own narrow, scraggly throats.

palm may not be off base at all. Maybe he knows something we don't. I don't like how the narrative sounds this year
A divide like what you are saying would most likely eliminate about 15-17 of the annually non-competitive conferences from a "FBS-type" tournament, but still allow all teams from all 32 conferences to play each other during the regular non-con season.
Under the current tournament format, even eliminating the "play-in" games, it would allow for 47-49 at large teams. You could even allow for automatic bids for all regular season champions as a least half of these would qualify at-large anyway and still have more at-large berths than you have now.
