They beat #14 FSU at home. They weren't that far behind us, in fact, they might have been directly behind us. It was gonna happen.

I wish we could play #14 FSU at home. With their coach, Leonard Hamilton, at the helm, they would be prime for the picking. They may be talented and he may be a good recruiter, but he is not a good coach at developing a team or it's players.

I'd take 21-5 and 2nd in the ACC right now and not care if we won on talent or X's and O's genius. By this point in the season, you are who your record says you are and their record says they are pretty good. Their worst loss may be Temple, but they have some really good wins. He is a two-time ACC coach of the year and poster boy for a university staying the course in coaching. He is clearly doing something right.

Indeed. They have a pretty good stretch of likely wins and winnable games coming up. Would be nice to chalk them up as a "good loss."

Meh, it's frustrating but we all saw it coming. We are right on the cusp. We will get there very soon. Today was really the first decent chance we had at it and Norte Dame just happened to do something much more noticeable at exactly the same time. Oh well.

Want to see the Shox on ESPN's web site? If the Shox are in the top 25, you just go to ESPN's NCAA Men's basketball page and the top 25 are there. Outside the top 25, at the same site, you have to click a drop down and select MVC from the choices to get to WSU's game results.

Want to make a guess how many more people see (and follow) a top-25 team than a team outside the top 25?

Exactly.Most sports list "Top 25" such as top 25 score updates, top 25 news, etc. Gives a name recognition boost to those that may not "pay much attention" to non-P5 schools or the casual fan. Otherwise, I think they're a total joke.

Yep -- That's the whole point, DS. What ND and teams in P5 conferences do, especially leagues like the ACC that everybody fawns over, is simply much more noticeable than what WSU does -- even if it's a huge smackdown of Illinois State like last week.

If (edit: KenPom #35) Maryland had beaten Ohio State 86-45 (instead of 86-77, by the way), do you think they'd have inched down even in a week where they also lost at Penn State? Color me skeptical. We'd have been hearing everywhere you turn about Magic Melo, or Diamond Stone, or who knows what other Terrapin talk about their being some sort of stealth Final Four contender.

Helpful that the teams behind us have picked up losses as well. Should help keep us from getting jumped. Need UCLA to win though. And, of course, we need to take care of our own business.

St Mary's and Wisconsin take care of business this weekend, I really don't see any possibility that Wich St isn't ranked next week.

Saint Mary's is at BYU on Saturday. That's a very loseable game if you're wearing yellow-tinted glasses.

I take this back. BYU looked terrible....I don't think it had that much to do with St. Mary's.

With Maryland and South Carolina losing this weekend I don't see how WSU doesn't make the AP 25. But then I thought they would make it last week.
