Geeeeezus, I'm sorry. I think McDermott got lucky. I don't think he's a horrible coach, just not a great coach. In my opinion, McDermott does a great job with Grant Gibbs type players, we'll see w h at he does with some higher caliber recruits.

I will say this, if Gregg Marshall were given these same guys, this year, we would be looking at Wichita State in the top four. McDermott has plateaued at 10. Until he loses in the next couple of weeks. My guess is Creighton will end up just outside of the top 25, Wichita State will be 16-20.

We will have to wait for future proof that Creighton is capable of that. History says no.

There isn't a very long list of teams among the "others receiving votes" category within reach of the Top 25, though

Wichita State could make its case this week. The Shockers (9-2) are coming off a 76-73 win against Oklahoma over the weekend and face another Big 12 opponent by hosting Oklahoma State on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Buzz Williams' rebuilding project at Virginia Tech is gaining momentum. The Hokies (8-1) beat Mississippi over the weekend for a third win against power-conference opponents, including Michigan and Nebraska. Virginia Tech hosts The Citadel on Saturday."

I was a little surprised to see WSU get as many Coaches / USA poll points as they still did. Apparently a few voters are less shellshocked than Shockernet is.

Also couldn't help noticing that some AP voter thinks Loyola is a top 25 team (and, obviously, WSU isn't). We shall see about that parlay -- I wouldn't be ranking WSU at this point myself, but Loyola? Really? The Ramblers do have some veterans, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I've always heard the coaches poll has a delay since so many just phone it in. I would bet we lose those votes even if we win by 60 tomorrow.

That's because there are lots of chicken fans on phog.net., to say nothing of Shockernet, who still are baffled by the MVC's success over the last 10 years against b12 teams in the Dance. They're still trying to crunch the numbers to make sense of it. :miserable:
