I will only posit that many on here wouldn't want to be criticized at doing their jobs the way they criticize the athletic department for trying to do theirs.

Would most believe that from a professional perspective they have core competencies, and outside of such it is best to bring seek outside input? I mean that's why consultants exist, right?

I crunch numbers for a living. When I need a logo and letterhead for my small business I don't just whip out MS Paint and go to work. While I could probably work something up that would look good to me due to personal biases and a lack of context, if I wanted a truly professional and polished look I would farm out the work to someone who has real ability and talent in that subset.

When WSU redid all of their logos and trademark stuff seven years ago, a designer that specializes in such did the work, and it turned out great. Similarly, all of the cool intro and media videos we see every season are pretty outstanding, and a local firm called Intake Studio does them. You notice Dr. Beggs didn't toss either of those jobs to his admin asst or the VP of student life or something, right?

There's possibly nothing associated with our University that catches as many national eyes as our MBB unis, and in that case we unfortunately look a little amateurish, which sucks when you don't want people to associate that characteristic with either our team or our school. To say nothing for the fact that cool unis results in cool fan gear, which results in (again) more money and exposure for the University.

On a recent flight, I sat beside someone from Ks who works for Nike in their collegiate division. Some insight I learned: not all teams for each university are on equal footing; he specifically mentioned Nike's interest in basketball but not so much baseball or other sports. In addition, mascot designs are commonly altered to allow for faster, less expensive embroidery. I'm wondering if the expense in reproducing MTXE style uni's placed them in the "not available" and more...generic...designs were offered if the company was to pick up the design tab. (Also why U of Oregon has so many uni's; Phil Knight doesn't mind eating the expense!)

This is also true. Unfortunately, our exposure is a little more limited (mainly because of population) than teams like VCU to the marketplace overall, which is a factor I'm sure Nike takes into consideration when assessing jerseys each year. And we don't have a university-wide deal with Nike (Baseball is UA, Softball is Adidas, etc.) so that probably doesn't help our access to getting new jerseys all the time like other teams.

But it's sure a hell of a lot better than it was before 2013. And the amount of Nike gear that is sold in stores is astronomically higher than it used to be.

While he wasn't directly involved with the Shox, he DID say the mascot tweeking was at their request to allow for more gear to be made at reasonable costs; and that would be beneficial to the U regardless of what company might be making items. Thus, the slight changes to WU a few years back.

I want straight black uni's with yellow trimmed black numbers. No names, and mtxe on the front in gloss black block letters. Add a white WU above crossed sickles on the back above the numbers. EDIT: just crossed sickles in off white as a background for the number. And a two toned black jersey with the shoulders being the same shade as the lettering and the body a shade lighter.

Why is there not a WU Reaper in the student section? That would be intimidating.

I like this look a lot (as I am already a fan of the black version), but this is the only proposed option on this thread I actually like as much or more than the actual ones.

I'd rather see the block letters. KU had the cursive on some of their uniforms, and somehow it fit them; kind of girly-boyish. Not a good look for our guys.

I like the new White's, but I'm always a bigger fan of the road Black's and the alternative Yellows.

It's just a uniform. Does it really make that much difference? I'm more concerned with on court performance when I see the uniforms. But hey that's just me.
