Agreed, the punishment fits the crime:
Boatright: "Coach, we gotta do something."
3G: "I know, I know"
Boatright: " Hey, I got it! You sign this form letter apology, and during tomorrow's unscheduled exhibition, how about you and Lyn take the day off and have a couple of drinks by the hotel pool. I'll call it a suspension."

We'll probably never know, but I would imagine the actual conversation was something very similar to this.

Blow over by Monday? By December? That video clip will be on every opponent message board and all over social media for every game this season and probably next season. People seeing that clip won't see Nurger getting a concussion, or any other player getting "rugby hit", or anything else that WSU fans find as causes for the action. Those other people will only see Marshall fighting his way through assistant coaches and players trying to keep him away from a referee.

That's the way the world works any more. We never see what caused a reaction, we just see the reaction, because that fits nicely into time slots on TV and social media.

SportsCenter took programming time away from the Olympics to broadcast the negative aspects to the nation. Let that sink in just a bit. Marshall's outburst was considered more newsworthy than some aspects of the Olympics. They didn't televise any bad calls. The world has no clue about "protecting players", they just saw what looks like a temper tantrum from someone who has anger management issues. Did SC report that Marshall did that to fire up, inspire, or teach his players? Nope. They showed it for the knee jerk reaction of a college basketball coach acting like the manager of a professional baseball team.

You expect that type of reaction in MLB. You expect fights in hockey games. That's been part of those sports for a long time. there are different commonly accepted standards of behavior in different sports. Marshall's action was so surprising to see in a basketball game that it got national sports coverage. A similar outburst by a minor league baseball manager wouldn't even be reported by local media covering the game for the local paper.

Nah. People have the attention span of a gnat these days. The general public has already forgotten this in favor of Michael Phelps memes and whatever Kanye West is doing today. Tomorrow will be something completely different, and then the next day, and...well, you get the picture. The clip might be on some opponents' message boards this season, but that doesn't bother me one bit. It will frustrate them even more when we beat their ass.

We need to disagree on here. Some people who can't move on will just have to drop their fan membership because they just can't stomach our coach anymore. What he did was not the way to go about it but it's not that big of a deal. He's admitted wrong, taking his medicine for his indiscretion and the true WSU fans just need to move forward.

I didn't get to see the video yet. Did he remove his suit jacket? That's like Defcon 1. You get your money's worth if you get to witness several minutes of hand wringing, followed by the chugging and slamming of a gatorade...leading to the ceremonial removing of the jacket.
