You have an interesting argument. You imply Marshall isn't Jesus Christ (and that some of us treat him like he is), but you hold him to such a high standard that you won't allow him to show emotion, get fired up, and make a mistake. Who, I ask, is expecting Marshall to act like Jesus Christ??? Not I. The guy is a human being. Get off his back and allow him to make a mistake. He's well, human after all.
I'm not holding him to any standard other than not embarrassing himself or the university. If that wasn't embarrassing to you, then I can't help you with that. Because our coach has a history for being fiery and having a type A personality, it's automatically ok for him to react like that? That's what it sounds like to me.

He's done great things for this program and will continue to do so. But you can't honestly think that looked good can you?

Now, someone says McDuffie's knee is clearly screwed up. Did he show a limp? Not move well? I heard he was dunking all over in warm-ups. Need knees for that. Was he showing injury?
McDuffie said his knee is weak, stiff, had trouble standing up prior and during the game. I am paraphrasing, but those were his descriptions. Not the type of stuff I want to hear coming from our potential superstar after a scrimmage.

Last season Fred totally got screwed by playing on a sore hamstring in a closed door scrimmage. He got worse against a terrible team at home.

We should try not to repeat that situation.

            • While a win probably isn't one that should be hugely celebrated, it was nice to see a lot more hustle and diving on the floor in the 4th quarter, which is classic Shocker basketball. It's also important to keep in mind that this team has barely had any practice, which is pretty important when it comes to running sets. Shooting obviously wasn't great... which may have something to do with playing 4 games in 4 days. I think the talent is definitely there, it's all gonna come down to the effort and how well this team can gel as a defensive unit.

                That is all.
I'm not embarrassed. Why is this so different than a baseball coach getting tossed to inspire his team? Billy Martin, Earl Weaver, Gene Stephenson, Brent Kemnitz...how many times did they get tossed. The team woke up...mission accomplished.

It just seemed like most of the game the refs had one eye on Coach.

Now, I'm not insinuating that they wanted his team to lose, but the straw that broke the camel's back was in no way, shape, or form a foul.

                  • That was awesome. Weaver was bitching. Our guy gave the impression that he might fight.

                    • It was not a good look for coach and the university. It wasn't anything you dont see in MLB every other night, but as far as on a basketball court, those actions have never been acceptable. I guess Gregg figured its still baseball season so he'd give his impressions of a manager. My biggest problem I have with the situation, is this not supposed to be a trip to teach your team? Not sure what there was to teach about going ballistic in a game that didnt matter. Win or lose it didnt matter....but that seems to have changed after the beating received from Carleton. I will agree the game was rough and the refs never really had control of it, but if you really want to make a statement, go Coach K at FSU...pull your players from the court and refuse to let them get hurt if you are so worried about it. Mistake made, he needs to man up and issue an apology, even if he doesnt mean it. As soon as he does that he can go back to teaching how to play defense against the dribble drive and dish. He has his work cut out for him over the next 3 months.

                        • The Canuckistani announcers sure were taken aback by the scene. Living up there I'm sure it is about as much emotion as they've seen in their entire lives. I was just waiting for them to say something like... "oh golly geez... shucks, that is quite the kerfuffle, doncha know."

Hearing he was going to play, I was thinking we had been treating him with kids gloves because of Fred's situation last year, but hearing him say anything close to that is an issue. Doesn't seem like he should have played at all.
