I hate the Bluejays as much as anyone, but to say that Dougie McD is not one of the top 50 players in the Valley is absurd. He is one of the best college players of all time. His ability to score in so many ways was very fun to watch for the 3 years he was a player in the league. If CU does not jump ship to the Big East (something we wish we were able to do) he would have had a chance to be the National POY as a player in the Valley.

Dougie had 14 blocks in his college career. Fred had 13. Think about that one for a second.78-65

Just using the list from sports reference, there are 34 players with ppg average greater than Doug's. http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/
Dave Stallworth averaged 24.2 ppg at WSU compared to Doug's 21.7 Not even in the same category in my books.
Cannot guess how many would be on the list if 1940s-1993 were included."I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

How many others are missing from the "top 25 list" by total points, I wonder? Wayman Tisdale at 25.6 would rank 9th.

This was a fun read.

"It's no secret that Doug McDermott has trouble on the defensive end. His lack of athleticism and foot speed make him a horrible mismatch for any speedy wing when it comes to Doug trying to stay in front of them."
"The problem is he is a really bad rebounder, much due to his lack of strength and awareness. McDermott averaged 3.8 rebounds per 36 minutes, one of the lowest season averages on the Bulls roster (it was a hair below Derrick Rose)... McDermott will get eaten alive in the post against a big man"
"McDermott simply cannot afford to play at a strength disadvantage on defense because he is already giving up so much in terms of athleticism. At 6-foot-8, he has decent height. But he has a very short wingspan, a low vertical and lacks speed. His lack of physical tools are why he’s already the worst player in NBA history at accruing blocks and steals."

I continue to work on my list and currently have 185 players under consideration with Doogie not under consideration. Perhaps 500 is too high which is why I used the qualifier "probably". IMO qualifying as one of the greatest college players of all time requires more than just shooting the basketball for your daddy's team.
