  • I can understand the Raptors' wanting to get a long look at their 1st round pick, just hope Fred gets a chance to be noticed as well. Good to see Toure again in this game too.

      Wasn't he a first round pick...last year?

      • Looking at the Guards Toronto has under contract next year, it seems curious that Fred would choose Toronto to sign with. Unless he really didn't have a choice.

        • Fred is eating Dunn alive on defense

          • Toure is having a nice game - 8 points thru 3 quarters of play, scoring in his usual variety of ways and working hard on defense. So far this has been a game FVV would like to forget on offense, OTOH.

            • The T-Wolves had 6 or 7 TOs when Fred came in. They've just about had about 4-5 straight possessions where they have struggled to keep it in their hands.

              • 2 fouls on Fred..both the announcers have said were just good defense. Should have been a steal and a block.

                  • Fred totally shut down Dunn on D in the 2nd half. But hearing the commentators talk about the Raptors guards, I am surprised that Fred / his agent viewed Toronto as an opportune destination - sounds like they are already 3 deep at PG, and Fred isn't getting the minutes to displace Wright as the #3. Hopefully Fred makes enough of an impression to catch on somewhere though.

If you look at the Raptors forums, a lot of them think Fred is playing better than Delon Wright when he is in. I'm not exactly sure why he went to a team that is so stacked at his position if he didn't want to end on a D-League roster (even though Toronto actually uses their D-League roster as a farm system), but you gotta think if the fans are thinking that someone in a position of power is thinking the same thing. The Raptors are probably too invested in Wright as a 1st round pick to displace him, but I think they are showing that even they like Fred. Not 100% confidant he'll end up on a roster, but I think his odds are going up. So far he's shut down "RoY" Kris Dunn better than anyone else, including guys with actual NBA experience and more size/athleticism, and he's made the most of his few offensive opportunities.

                      • Don't really have to look too deep to analyze Freddy so far. Great D, great teammate, makes others better.

Size and athleticism better than anticipated, offense about as anticipated or a little worse. Needs to be able to score a bit. Probably the smartest player on that team. Basketball IQ is off the charts.

But we all know that already. I too think he's in a tough spot, numbers wise with Toronto. But remember, contracts and money, for both this year and next, often play a part in decision making.

You need a couple 600k guys when you're paying Lowery $147,000,000.

Doh! That's right. Forgot he was a senior when we played at their place.

                          • When Fred is on him Dunn can't play pg.

                            • Fred basically removed his entire ability to run the offense. It was beautiful.

While he needs to be a bit more effective scoring I'm sure the GMs watching noticed his beautiful strip of Dunn and block on Jones that were wrongly called fouls.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

                              • Pretty common occurrence. When you know where all 9 of the other guys are supposed to be on the court, it's easier to play effective defense.
