I'm not defending Creighton in any way, I like the jabs I read here. I find the whole thing funny. But when a Shocker is basing an opinion on the benefits of moving conferences on preconceived and incorrect beliefs formed on vitrol from an old rival, he's probably forming the wrong opinion.

Creighton would be much lower if they were still in the Valley. With the same roster, Creighton wouldn't have obtained a preseason ranking this year. I don't think they're that good anyway. The revenues are way up, and fan interest hasn't been higher. On an aside, Husker fans berating their conference affiliation also ended.

I certainly don't want the Joan of Arc threads, or the Groupon threads to end, those are awesome! But since it appears to me that Shockvalue really believes that the arena would be empty if all of the seats weren't discounted. And since it appears to me that he's basing his opinion of the benefits of Wichita State moving conferences on half priced ticket revenue, I'll goahead and post a map of available seats.

The light blue seats in the last couple of rows are the only seats available. Season tickets were not at this level ever in the Valley. Creighton has sucked the last few years, and this is a benefit. Koch is sold out, but a new conference could literally force the school to raise the roof! The benefits are enormous.

I feel dirty even posting this, so please, go back to Creighton bashing, it would just make me feel better.

    Cheapest MBB Ticket -

CU: For the entirety of the upper level of the C-Link (roughly 2/3rds of arena capacity) - $220 for adults, $145 18 y/o and below, no Jaybacker donation required - works out to roughly $12 per game ticket adult or $8 per for 18 and younger

WSU: For the last 7 rows of a 34 row arena - $620-$630 (mandatory SASO donation plus ticket cost) - works out to $34-35 per game ticket

    Booster Fund -

    CU's Jaybacker: $4.5M (2015-2016)

    WSU's SASO: $5.3M (2014-2015)

(Links for clicks, if you want them.)

When will BE Creighton enjoy the financial support of MVC Wichita State? Curious minds would like to know. (Me... I'm bored.)

This is the problem, I'm not comparing and contrasting Wichita State and Creighton, I'm discussing the BENEFITS of moving conferences. You have this whole belief that Creighton is giving a bunch of tickets away, they aren't. If you want to form an opinion of any possible benefits of Wichita State moving conferences, comparing and contrasting the two does nothing. Sure, you can chest thump and all of that, but a better way for you to get an accurate opinion would be to take an honest look at Creighton, as to how the move has helped or hurt. If you simply want to do the us vs. them, then you win!!! But you've done nothing to determine whether or not leaving the Valley could be good or bad.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

There is a very small minority of people that still wish Nebraska didn't leave the Big 12. But its few and far. I'm sure there is a segment of Shocker fans that never want to see a conference change. I think fev would refer to them as "cavers."

I don't know exactly what a caver is, I think it means they like the status quo, resist change and like to hide in a cave. Is that right?

You have the right idea though.

                        • "Valley preview: Wichita State remains team to beat" - The Pantagraph (Normal, Illinois)

                          by Jim Benson, Sports Writer
                          November 3, 2016

"The theme for the 2016-17 Missouri Valley Conference basketball season could be "Time for a Change." Nine of the 10 players from last season's all-league teams have graduated. The Valley didn't lose typical four-year players, either, but guys like Fred VanVleet, Ron Baker and D.J. Balentine, who will be going into the league's Hall of Fame someday. With that star power gone, most prognosticators expect the Valley to turn into a one-bid NCAA Tournament league this season. Everything will be on the line during Arch Madness come March in St. Louis.

Yet don't expect total upheaval in the Valley.

"It still runs through Wichita State and even Northern Iowa with the success they've had," said Missouri State coach Paul Lusk. "They've earned it." Gregg Marshall has built a machine at Wichita State. The Shockers have won three straight undisputed Valley regular-season titles after advancing to The Final Four in 2013. Wichita State set an all-time Valley record last year with its seventh straight 25-plus win season...."
