Sometimes we get these reports and you just have to take at least some of it, with a grain of salt. However, this is so spot on it's scary. ESPECIALLY the gladiator like method of determining a winner. Pure HCGM.

How may you ask does this have anything to do with this thread. It has nothing to do with it but that never stops half of the folks from doing the same in other threads.
Kellen Marshall was a guy walking with a couple of the leaders in golf and reporting in to Mike Kennedy for the broadcast. Before he went out on the course I had the opportunity to "interview" him about how summer workouts were going.
Here are the relevant parts that I remember. Daishon Smith is very very fast. He gets the ball out on the break quickly. His problem as observed by others is that he needs to learn how to slow it down because that gets him in trouble in the half court.
D Willis reminds KM of Carl Hall in his attitude about rebounding. You don't want to be the guy to go after it if Willis wants it and he wants them all. He has no regard for his body and seems to shake off hard spills that would hurt mere mortals.
Shaq has indeed been showing some leadership to the new guys.
Eric Hamilton will see playing time this year for the fact that he is so athletic and utterly fearless as well in going to the hoop.
Apparently both EH and DW were on the same scrimmage team and one was supposed to be the 4 and the other the 5. Apparently both wound up playing the 4 and HCGM stopped the scrimmage and told them to go outside and fight and the loser would be the 5.
MM and ZBrown are better than they were last year.
R Kelly has added strength and has improved his shooting so they are looking for more help from him.
I asked him about the leadership of the team and KM said it is still a work in progress. He said FVV came in as a sophomore and said that it was his team. No one is willing to do that as of yet but then again there aren't very many FVV in the world.
According to KM the Shocks will be quicker and have more offensive potential. Just working everyday to get better. Must be like shaving."Prediction is very difficult, especially if it is about the future."

Thanks for your help this week. I couldn't have done it without you. Kellen did a great job as our Gary McCord on the radio play by play. Kellen also did a great job of breaking down recent scrimmages. Shocker basketball is in great hands.

Anybody stopping by to watch scrimmages? I'm in need of some eyeball evaluations."I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".
A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

I was lucky enough to attend a practice earlier this week. Here are a few of the things that stood out to me.
Willis is an absolute stud. Good footwork, finishes with either hand, he's very physical, and I saw him make all 3 threes he took in drills/scrimmage. Very smooth lefty stroke. HCGM called him out once for his d. It didn't see what he did but Hamilton came in for him.
Shaq is playing at another level. He scored at will inside. He missed a couple mid range jumpers, but he looked like he was playing very hard on both ends. His teammates are really looking for him. I thought he might have broken Nurger's sternum once going to the hole. Rauno came off his man to try to draw a charge and there was a huge collision. RN slid 5 ft on the floor but coaches said he wasn't there on time.
Speaking of RN he looked pretty good too. He looks more springy and his shoulders look bigger. Hamilton and Kelly didn't look bad either although RK looks small compared to the other guys.
MM doesn't need any space to go to the rack. He is sooo slippery.
None of the perimeter guys stood out too much, but they were getting after each other on d. Everyone goes so hard. CF couldn't make a shot(again), but he looked more aggressive taking them. I heard earlier this summer he didn't miss a shot at one practice. Literally. That was from a coach. I would sure like to see that.
Shamet reminds me of FVV only taller, longer and with more physical ability. He just makes good decisions and he plays with a chip. He had a nice one step, two handed dunk on a break drill.
Smith is very fast and I think he will be good but I didn't see much that day. HCGM blasted him once for not getting us in the offense quick enough, but I think he expects a lot from him.
I was impressed with Allen. He never looked to score, but he's big, strong with the ball and he knows the o.
Brown didn't stand out, but he looked fine. Keyser, Reaves, and the WV kid weren't there.
HCGM practices are a little hard to watch because there's so much going on to start with in the drills. I couldn't take my eyes off the big guy end of the court. Overall I was very excited with what I saw. We have more talent than we've had the last couple years imo. We're gonna be really good. I think this group wants to prove themselves without FVV and RB. it has to give them confidence seeing those 2 have some success at the next level.

I suppose you were permitted to watch the practice without being questioned. Can anyone attend a practice?
