The decision on football is much farther reaching than the 10 or so years Gregg will continue to coach. Where do you see the university in 20/30 years.

I did not vote on the poll because the devil is in the details and no real details have been provided.

I did hear someone on the radio today say that they knew "for a fact" that the Wichita community would not support WSU football. They must be in Bardo's inner circle and have all the details available to them.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

Wichita like any other place will support a winner and if they can have priority parking aka front row.

some of my best memories are taking my kids to Shocker football games and watching them play in the leaves on campus as we walked from 17th and Fairmount where we parked to the stadium. I would only be agreeable bringing back football if there was a large endowment for football and the rest of the athletic budget was seperate.

You da man, Prez. May be in a little trouble for your follow-up switcheroo, though.

I was wondering who that big entourage was over there....it makes sense now.

Wow... You heard "someone" on the radio say they knew "for a fact" that the Wichita community "would not" support football.
Nothing subjective about your post. (Sarcasm intended)

Yep. New baseball coach, I agree.

I guess your sarcasm missed my sarcasm.

It went over my head too, but now that you point it out -- funny!

Football at our beloved University is much, much bigger than a basketball coach. By that I mean that the decision not to pursue it, or to pursue it, must stand on its own merits and with a 25+ year lens. Is our school going to commit to a football program, and pursue excellence with that program or isn't it?

Slapping a team together in the hopes of joining a better conference to satisfy a short term problem is a non-starter. Putting together a football program that the University intends to fully fund and pursue excellence in -- that's the right way, if the resources and support are there. Anything short of that is just a waste of time and resources.

The open question of football at WSU, really has nothing to do with Coach Marshall. Or at least it shouldn't.

Yes, but this is a basketball thread, so, therefore, ....

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

Football coaches don't like to be number 2. KU will never be able to hire a decent coach because of the emphasis KU places on basketball. A worthwhile football coach seeing Marshall on the athletic department staff would run away from a job at WSU.
KU has huge football problems though.. Good coaches don't want that job because of the basketball emphasis, but then there's also their stadium situation. They easily have most ran down D1 football stadium in the country and it's surprising that they haven't at least tried to renovate Memorial by now. If WSU were to reboot football, they would at least have a new stadium and good facilities.

If they are gonna run with the Big Dogs, they will need to raise around $750,000,000 or so for new stadium or existing stadium improvements.
