If WSU brought back football and kept Marshall, WSU football would become KU, Jr. football.
Football coaches don't like to be number 2. KU will never be able to hire a decent coach because of the emphasis KU places on basketball. A worthwhile football coach seeing Marshall on the athletic department staff would run away from a job at WSU.The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Not sure how bringing back football would assure 3G does not go anywhere unless your assumption is that bringing back football gets us into a top tier basketball conference which it may or may not. And even if it does there are no assurances when it comes to retaining successful coaches. I don't anticipate 3G would agree to a contract that locks him in under any circumstances.

I think a better question is how much incremental financial support Shockernetters are willing to expend annually for football over and above what they are currently spending on Shocker Athletics. I could be wrong but my guess is that would indicate the Shockernetters would not be a terribly influential group. I know I would fit into that category.
That doesn't mean the big boys won't step up and make football happen. It just means our opinions are worth the digital space they occupy. So far a grass roots approach hasn't generated anywhere close to enough interest or financial commitment to justify bringing football back. Maybe Charles will step up since he doesn't seem to find any political candidates worth supporting.

Steve Eck can coach basketball."When life hands you lemons, make lemonade." Better have some sugar and water too, or else your lemonade will suck!

If WSU brings back football, they need to hire Garin Higgins and let him do what he do. He can build a program from nothing.People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do. -Isaac Asimov
