I would also move it to Jan/Feb.

So you want to cram another game, one which requires flying across the country, into one of the most compressed league schedules in the country?

If 10 MVC teams play 10 MWC teams, 5 home and 5 away, you can mix and match however you like and the league RPIs will still come out the same in the end. There are some minor caveats to this general principal, but they are small, and unpredictable ahead of time as to who they would benefit, so for the purposes of your question, the caveats are irrelevant and I see no RPI benefit to setting up a bunch of intentionally mismatched games.

It works for ku-uk. We also finish a week earlier than everyone else, so there is room.

            3. Match ups decided by RPI, strength of schedule.
            4. Top 5 games played the same day in consecutive order, televised.
            5. Bottom 5 games played day before top 5, not televised as part of event.
            6. Assign point values for games won. Bottom 5 each worth 1 point. 5 worth 2, 4 worth 3, 3 worth 4, 2 worth 5, 1 worth 6.
            7. Conference with highest point total gets 60% tv revenue, 40% to losing conference. Awarded revenue to be split among schools with 30% going to the top school in each conference.

Puts incentive on strength of schedule, but awards a winnable schedule as well.
You can't give a week's notice. Travel for the visiting team would be a nightmare. Someone like Wichita State can probably get a charter plane on a moment's notice or at least have one ready to reserved so that all you have to do is plan the logistics specific to the destinationo. Some schools don't have those resources and have to fly commercially. Trying to do that a week out would be really expensive.

Match them up based on the preseason coaches' polls for each league. The Valley's came out on October 27th last year. The MWC preseason poll came out on October 13th last year. Not an exact science but probably better than relying on prior year standings or RPI's. That would give you a couple of months lead time for travel arrangements. Agree to release those at the same time if need be.

Unless we are revoking votes from the Loyola student newspaper, I don't care for this idea much either.

I don't want people that are voting for 2016 Loyola to finish first in the league or 2016 Barry Hinson as the best coach in the league having 1/100th of 1% of anything to do with WSU's scheduling.

This is part of why the bracket busters failed. Schools do not like shifting gears in the middle of conference season.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

The reason or schedule finishes a week earlier is so that our conference championship is on a CBS. If it's a week later we would be selling for less tv exposure.

Bracket Busters failed because instead of pitting top teams against each other, it became an RPI killer and a killer of dreams due to a bubble team drawing a Mo St or Loyola and getting beat. A more apt name the last couple years would be Bubble Busters.

I'm saying it worked out okay this year. They have a week to recover and move on.

not if there was promised revenue. Why do you think teams travel for the NCAA? $$$$

I'm not an expert on it, but i believe the ncaa itself pays the travel costs of each team.

It's still paid for! Whether the school pays for it and then reimbursed or its all paid for up front, it's still not additional expense. AND it could bring in enough revenue for the bottom 5 win or lose that it pays for a few recruiting trips on top of the travel expense for the game.
