Daishon, Landry, Conner and TT will all get opportunities to play the point but by mid season Daishon will be starting. There will be a great deal of time sharing in the 1-3 positions. Austin will show Bakerlike promise but in few minutes per game. Darlyn, Shaq and mcduffie will end up being Marshalls fiercest front courts and we will dominate the league again and 3G is COY.Last edited by Ashockalypse; March 27, 2016, 07:41 PM.

IMO by the start of the conference play his play will have established himself as an important cog in the Shockers' rotation.
I almost hate to get into it......
First, he's going to have surgery. He'll be recovering for awhile. We're a top 25 program now. This isn't a program where you miss time leading into the season and then beat out established, experienced, proven top 100 talent at your position.
Okay, yes, I'll admit it. If this young man's only weakness is Kryptonite then he will play right off the bat and Gregg stole one. You got me.
FRED FREAKING VANVLEET didn't find many minutes until the tournament his freshman year for crying out loud. Ron FREAKING BAKER redshirted his freshman year.
It's probably at least 30% he's at Sunrise next year. This kid is not coming in and taking minutes from Shamet and Conner I PROMISE YOU.
For the last time....IT'S NOT FAIR TO THE KIDS!!!!!! Stop projecting near perfection onto kids that are still worried about their prom dates.

I'm excited about Reaves. I don't think he'll be our starting point guard anytime soon, and maybe never. I do think he will be a very good player for us, in fact, I think he will be a star. I don't expect it to be immediately."You Don't Have to Play a Perfect Game. Your Best is Good Enough."

It's not easy projecting a D1 game from highlight videos of HS players when you have no clue about the ability of the players on the other teams. Even when you recognize the school they were at and the level of competition they faced, you don't know much until you see how their game plays at the D1 level.
Here's Rashard Kelly's bio from goshockers
Prep School: Played the 2013-14 season with the post graduate team at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va… Was voted Team MVP after averaging 22.3 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 2.1 steals… Served as team captain… Played for coach A.W. Hamilton… Chose WSU over Cincinnati, East Carolina, George Mason, George Washington, Marshall and Xavier.
When Reaves tries some of the stuff you've seen in his highlights against D1 defenders who are considerably quicker, stronger, and more skilled than the defenders in the highlight clips, he may be able to get to the basket. The challenge will be to still have the ball when he gets there.
It's generally a pretty solid theory, that if any team starts a true Fr at PG early in the season, something has gone horribly wrong.
I think I voted for Shamet. I have no confidence in a prediction for the starting PG next year. Actually, Simon looked pretty decent this year and was the first option in the first half if both VanVleet and Baker were out for any reason. He shot 40% from 3 and had an A/TO ration of 2.6 I wouldn't be surprised to see him get significant minutes until anotherguard gets some on-court experience. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

More BALDERDASH from you WuDrWu; you post that something has "to go terribly wrong" with the Shockers next season if AR is to capture playing time and when asked to explain what you think will have to go wrong - rather than explain your thinking you offer five disjointed, speculative statements. To which I offer the following:
Yes, AR is going to have the same surgery he had last year but on his second shoulder; how long his recovery will take is pure speculation. Worthy of note is that he recovered quickly enough from his first surgery to lead his team to a State Championship within months of the first surgery. Importantly no one has posted that he is going "...to beat out established, experienced, proven top 100 talent" I did post my opinion that I thought he ranked 8th or the Shocker Roster (behind MM, LS, CF, PA,ZB, RK and SM) and placed him ahead of three guards (CJK, DS and TT).
No one has posted that AR is Superman, you are the first and only poster to make such a silly, speculative projection.
AR is not FVV and RB; importantly he is a member of a team roster that is quite different from the rosters FVV and RB faced when they were Freshmen. AR brings offensive skills to Shockerland beyond those of FVV and RB; Baker scored 26 points in leading Scott City to the 3A State Championship in 2011 - Austin scored 43 points leading Cedar Ridge to the 3A title in Arkansas.
From what source did you garner this 30% probability that he will be at Sunrise next year? Rather than your speculative promise that AR will not take minutes from LS and CF, I would rather wait and see how HC3G views AR's potential to play meaningful minutes.
Stop projecting near perfection onto kids that are sill worried about their prom dates - no one has projected any such thing regards AR and Austin is not the least bit worried about his prom date (according to my cousins who live in Northwest Arkansas).
I could offer some speculation to counterbalance your reluctance to accept that HC3G may have already recruited a player with potential equal to or superior to FVV and RB; but I do not like to speculate, I prefer to rationally review the data at hand and draw conclusions that can be supported from such data. Admittedly my opinion of Austin is biased from input I have received from my Northwest Arkansas relatives but the data posted on him in his Recruitment Thread is encouraging to say the least. Given the coaching and support he will receive at WSU I have confidence he will meet our early expectations for him.

Even with that kind of a prep year at a renowned prep school - after graduating from HS - Kelly is still struggling to adapt his game to D1.

I have no early expectations for Austin, so I'm certain he will meet my expectations.
If you are expecting an incoming freshman, coming off a surgery, to be a regular contributor to a top 25ish team, you ARE expecting near perfection. Sorry you can't grasp that.
If you'd like me to explain what's gone wrong for him to be in the mix, I'll tell you.
Injuries to both Shamet and Frankamp. Also, someone who earned the same respect and showed the same potential as Austin will have to have left the program to make room for him.
Is that terribly wrong enough and clear enough for you?
In addition to the 7 returnees you mentioned he'll be behind (I'm assuming you think TT or RN is gone) he will also be behind the other 3 incoming players. All 3, including CJ, are physically ready for D1. Austin is not.
Yes, that's my opinion. But I'll take my opinion based on evaluations by D1 coaches over your Northwest Arkansas relatives, with absolutely NO offense intended to your relatives, any northwest Arkansas citizen, or combination thereof.
My Superman comment was hyperbole. I'm sorry that blazed over your head.
You compare his stats to Baker. Baker was a superior athlete coming out of high school....AND BAKER STILL REDSHIRTED!
For the record, he is not yet a member of the team. He hasn't signed an LOI. There are several reasons which I've listed that could lead him to not being on the team next year. THEN there's the very real chance if he is that he will redshirt.
So, to summarize:
1)He's not yet on the team.
2)He may attend Sunrise. Don't want to believe me, fine. His own "guy" who posted here said it's a possibility.
3)He's having surgery.
4)If he's on the team he might redshirt.
5)He's likely to be 13th on the depth chart if he's here and he decides to forego the redshirt.
All of these factors defend my comment that several things have to go wrong for him to contribute meaningful minutes next season.
Is that good enough?

Kelly played against some of the best HS and post-HS competition in the nation. His stats were off the charts awesome.
Reaves played against the best players a town of 5,000 could put up against him. Maybe 2,000. He really looked great in the clips where he was playing aginst the little, slow guys (compared to D1) that he will see at WSU.
Baker took a redshirt year. Reaves is going to have to adjust to not being "the guy". Frankamp was a similar player to Reaves in HS. Always got the ball and always was the guy supposed to get the shot. That hasn't worked out well for Frankamp's conversion to D1. Why would it be expected to work out better for Reaves?
Then there's the banal argument that if Marshall recruited him, he's got to be good. Holland and Henderson are the reason we're even having a discussion about next year's PG. I'm skeptical that it was their decision to leave the program. If it was their decision, then they were probably told they would never be getting significant minutes on the court. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Baker shouldn't be the litmus test. First, Baker wasn't as athletic in high school. Damn good all around athlete, but he couldn't make as many athletic plays.
More importantly, Baker didn't red shirt because of his readiness level. He was ready and able to play, but wanted to stick to the plan they made before he arrived on campus.
It is still difficult to expect a freshman guard to contribute. The expectations on defense usually take a year to set in. So I don't expect much from any newcomer. I do expect him to be good down the road.
