So why do sucky defensive teams from the Big 12 get ranked higher than better defenses in the ACC? If that is your theory, it still doesn't answer how or why that happens.

That's my big question here. If the Big 12 plays worse defense than the ACC, why don't the computer numbers show this? Why can't we find something they are doing differently to potentially take advantage of a flaw in the system? You would think we would be able to identify SOMETHING.

All the "well they just sit at home and enjoy non con home court advantage" stuff that comes up in Big 12 vs MVC discussions goes out the window when discussing Big 12 vs ACC.

Because computers suck at defense, too.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

          • I think one quick prime indicator is the ACC's unquestionable superior level of parity, which in this case is not a bad word.

In the last 10 years the ACC first place finishers (in no particular order) were: N. Carolina, Duke, Maryland, Virginia & Miami.

The ACC's parity tells us what? It is a prime indicator of what?

                  Highly doubtful.

I know, it's tacky to quote myself.

Anyhow, I just realized that when The 'Ville won it all in '13 they weren't even the regular season ACC champs.

If they would have been, it would have been a phenomenal feat, considering they were in the Big East that year.

You are correct. I'm obviously not looking up stats while engaging in this conversation.

So, off the top of my head I believe The 'Cuse was too. That championsip game when the Cards came from 20+ down to beat 'em in the second half to win was awesome.

Now that they're both in the ACC my unbiased claims of superior parity are even further reinforced.

                        Thanks for the help Kel.

But that superior parity tells us what? You called it a "prime indicator", but haven't answered the question "of what?"
