      That said, a few questions.

Would you expect that response from a Shocker player or would you expect them to "take the high road"?

Would you care if it came from a Shocker player?

Would Marshall prefer such a response to come from him rather than a player?

Would Marshall care publicly? Would Marshall care back in the locker room?

      Just checking the SNr pulse.
Ron and Fred probably would not have responded in that fashion. That would simply be out of character for them. But that doesn't mean they wouldn't care and if they would have responded as Taurean did it would not bother me under those circumstances. I'm pretty sure it would have bothered Coach Marshall and I think he would care very publicly. Hopefully, we won't have some dickwad reporter with an agenda pulling a stunt like that if Ron's and Fred's careers come to an end after a tough loss. Unlikely, that will happen in that the Shocks probably won't even play a team seeded below them in the tournament. So a "how could let that happen" question is unlikely to occur.

It would be interesting to get Ron's take (and Fred's also) since Taurean was Ron's teammate on the Pan Am team. I doubt that we going be privy to that assuming they even care.

The game opened with Middle Tennessee with a 5% chance to win and now stands at 36% chance to win.

                • I have always had an objection to the media obligations of amateur players after losses. It's one thing to have to answer questions professionally during an emotionally situation when you are a professional, but to have those same types of obligations as an amateur seems over the line to me, and has for a number of years.

If they pull that off, it will certainly put my bracket out of its misery.

I disagree. They are in college. They are on scholarship. They are (theoretically) there to learn and gain a well rounded education. Just as I, an engineer, had to take speech 101, I see no problem with athletes representing the university being expected to fulfill media obligations. For those looking to go into a career in sports, this is real world training.

Now, members of the media acting like jerks? Yeah, that's bad. However, in terms of the pure obligation for student athletes to answer questions (assuming they are respectful questions), I see no problem.
