WSU Versus Vanderbilt Predictions and Pregame Discussions

Vanderbilt plays three 7 footers. They have three starters who shoot better than 40 percent from the 3 and have double digit wins over Kentucky and Texas A&M. They're well coached too. But they do suck away from home, 5 - 11 road/neutral record.

Both teams limped into the tourney but the Shox really sucked arse the last two games. With three 7 footers down low, they're going to force us into being a jump shot team which we all know we utterly suck at.

This group does not Play Angry and I see no passion in RB or FVV this year. We lose 69 - 59.

I wondered if we might go zone (or if we practice it much since I know Marshall loves man). However, Vanderbilt shoots pretty well, comparably speaking, from 3 as opposed to from 2. But maybe it's a result of their height and teams playing zone against them. I'd have to watch some film to figure it out.

FWIW, I love that if we win, we get 3 games in 5 days. Our offense is so complex that we benefit a lot from teams not having a lot of time to scout us, and it shows when we get a lot of easy baskets in the NCAA Tournament that we don't get in league play.

I'm incredibly nervous for this game but I'm that way for any big game. Marshall's key quote for our NIT run was "you bloom where you're planted". Let's hope we can approach this tournament the same way and make a similar run.
