  • Bradley fans are calling it a moral victory by being able to take our 3rd stringers down in the final 5 minutes.

      Say what?
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

Their article for the game mentions that they played the starters even when they came in with 11 to go. And out scored us by 2 from that point on.

Funny how fans can watch a blowout game and have the weirdest takeaways about what was important/meaningful to post about online afterward. I'm sure glad there is no obvious cross-application of this principle on our board following this game.

This was one of those games where the final score was not indicative of the difference between the two teams. The score made it sound closer than it really was.

I watch a lot of Valley basketball. A lot. I watched the first five or so minutes of this game and quit. Yep, one sided basketball is boring. Instead, I watched some ISU Red in Globetrotter shorts, some Drake basketball and I even watched Nebraska lose to Michigan. Not being a die hard Wichita State fan, I shut it down early. I peeked at the score, but didn't tune in once after the first few minutes.

The WSU-Bradley game was over just about 15 seconds after the opening tip. While I like Wichita State, Im not going to watch them play against dog shiznet. I wish the Valley had better opponents, Shocker fans deserve better.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

People don't even understand what they're seeing from the Shocks at times. The veterans are deferring to the kids BIG TIME. When the time comes for tough wire-to-wire intensity, Fred, Ron and Evan are going to kick it into a whole different gear. Shoot, Ty Taylor had more shots than Ron. <wink>.

The only thing I can think of is that HCGM and staff know something or have a strategy that we are unaware of.

That's a great question for 3G tomorrow night on his show.

                      • After the game yesterday, I had to fly to Houston for business. The first stop was Rick's and although the entertainment was top notch the crowd sucked....frankly the only thing in the room that was flat. The only time the crowd got into it was when some guy won a free lap dance. Go ahead and take these girls for granted guys, just 6 more hours until last call.

                        • Other than the grouchy old man and his wife in front of me, I was actually pretty happy with the atmosphere at the game. Our seats were pretty close to the student section, and they were pretty good, trying to get chants going, etc. Is it their fault that nobody joins in when they get something started? There were quite a few more of us standing and cheering for our guys (even the 3rd line) than there has been at some recent games. The constant complaining about what is over and over referred to as "one of the best atmospheres in college basketball" gets old.

                          • Shocks might have threatened 100 if they had shot the 3-ball better (6-22 and that was with Evan hitting 2 of 3). Line change games like this one though can make it hard to really get in a good rhythm. Thought the Shocks had a great focus and effort in a game that they could easily take for granted.

10 guys with double figure minutes. Shocks outrebounded Bradley 39-24. 2 Shocks had 4 rebounds and 6 Shocks had 3 rebounds. Scrimmage indeed.

Shaq is becoming dependably efficient on the offensive end lately.

Eric Hamilton looks to me to be the sleeper of our deep bench. He can be a real tease.

                            • As do players, fans get up for BIG games better than other games. You can usually feel the tension in the arena before the game even begins. The student section is usually full an hour prior to game time and fans are sitting on the edge of their seats. It was like that a little against Evansville this year, but we just haven't had that type of game this year. Last year, we had Tulsa, Seton Hall, and UNI. But I still feel like our fans in a smart way and understanding way bring it every game. When the Shocks struggle, they spring up to encourage them more. Yesterday, our team played a very good game. We were yelling from our section and standing up too. But they didn't need help as much as they sometimes do. I'm pretty old, but I don't mind people around me standing up and yelling as much as they wish. I can stand up too to see if necessary. But, If anyone is going to bring a little fun and something new to games like yesterday, it'll be the students.
