Power five conferences already get the best conference schedules, and hold all the cards in scheduling for non conference, now they want their own metric... Aka another way to weed out " mid majors"... Tired of this bullshit... Just come out and say that you guys are tired of having to compete with smaller schools who do more with less... Maybe if their coaches worked harder, smarter and actually coach then they would be beating us more mid majors... The thing that benefits smaller programs is being able to keep players for four years, I'm not a KU fan, but that tool should get the best talent here can get that's willing to or would stay four years, which is an oxymoron. They just don't wanna give an edge to programs that make less money then them and that have more success..

They want a "mid major" out that bad... Like that scene from Django Unchained, where Leo has two slaves fight to the death... Disclaimer, i mean nothing racist by this comment, just using it as a comparison.

This just refers to conferences that play unbalanced schedules. Mvc plays every team home and away. Some conferences play their division home and away and then the other division just once.

They created a metric a couple of years ago to account for that. For instance look at indiana's big 10 schedule vs say Michigan state.

It is also the same argument some use for ku's dominance in big 12 prior to all the realignment. Ku got to play the north for 10 games and the south only 6 games, when one could argue the south was the better division.

Hope this calms your fears that wsu playing in the mvc hurts them in this metric.

I think this is close to the truth. Another BIG factor is their ability to market their conference to the sports channels for more money. They want to drum up more than local interest in a, say, Texas Tech vs. TCU match up to better negotiate. That gets diluted if people find interest in a, say,WSU vs. UNI matchup. Follow the money.

Yes, the strength of conference is not considered for round robin conferences like the MVC. What it checks is unbalanced leagues.

              • Guys, enough with the garbage criticism of stuff you don't even understand.

@AG1219: did a good job explaning. This isn't even an inter-conference rating. It has absolutely nothing to do with big boys vs mid-majors. It is purely for looking at teams with the same conference.

The whining and complaining about everything being so unfair is insufferable at times. At least get your facts straight before you start.

                    • Credit to Jamar for this week's hand holding. JFC folks, it's almost like we weren't watching this same process obsessively in 2005, 2011 and 2013 with similar stakes.

Temple is very possibly out if they lose. Root for UConn to somehow find their legs and win 1 more.

                          • Lunardi's latest bracket has us playing St. Joes in the East where Villanova is the number 1 seed. So, we would play in the 8/9 game against a team from the state of Pennsylvania. After winning that game we would play a Catholic institution seeded #1 with a name that ends in "a". Sound familiar?
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.
