WSU Versus Southern Illinois Predictions and Pregame Discussions
I don't know much about SIU but I imagine we'll have Brown/McDuffie on Beane, Baker on Smithpeters and Fred on Rodriguez. Our 4/5 should be better than their 4/5, Baker may go off this gamee if he has Smithpeters guarding him.

Not sure why there is so much consensus SIU won't win today (a little exasperating)...we will win and I'd say potentially by double figures or close to it; Salukis are much better offensively than they have been when these two teams played in recent seasons. Furthermore, SIU has been competitive with WSU in the last several years when they've been at their best and we at our worst, and SIU beat them a few years ago, when horrible compared to what we are now; today, WSU isn't as good as they have been in the past and SIU much better. As a matter of fact, I'd say there is a chance SIU sweeps WSU this season. Remember, we have a true pg in Rodriguez...he will be the piece that was missing against these guys, and I think it will be plenty apparent.
Why are there are a lot of folks concerned about this game or predicting a close one? SIU and their 281 SOS is a joke. They lost to a 3 - 12 SIU Edwardsville at home for Pete's sake!
There is no team in this conference even close to our talent and capable of beating us. NO ONE and it's not even close. Don't tell me how Evansville was good and made it close. That's a bunch of crap. They got close because our guys failed to show up. There's going to be games where we are our own worst enemy - that's it. Not afraid of NIU and their wins against UNC and Iowa St. They only won those games for the same reason we lost to Bama, Iowa and USC. UNC was missing Marcus Paige and Iowa State was missing Naz Long.
If we got people thinking SIU is a single digit win, then what are you going to predict when we make the NCAA's and play a Villanova for instance? We'll get beat by 20? We should go undefeated in this conference and if we lose a game or two, it's because the boys failed to play up to their capabilities or some key player got hurt. The Shox control their own destiny and I predict a 17 point win against the posers from Carbondale.
This was probably the best prediction even if it wasn't sincere. It's kind of sad when your trolling backfires on you.

Sad.
Yes, SIU is good enough to compete for second in the MVC. And yes WSU is 30 points better than that in their house.

That guy is an idiot, though i have to admit I get a huge kick out of his tortured, malapropism-ridden writing.
I f-ing HATED the outcome of this game, but if it shuts up the likes of him and other similar idiots on our board, then at least some good will come from this beat-down.
See y'all in a few weeks. Hope we give you a better game at your place.
I just read in the Eagle that Ron had to have a cut on his head stitched up after the game. I guess I totally missed that. I saw him take a hard fall, and take a shot to the face, but I didn't realize either of those resulted in a cut that would need four stitches. What a tough kid.

Anybody that is on that board, I'd love to hear how he's covering his arse after the game. I'd have to imagine people are calling out his jackassery.

This was no attempt to troll. I was absolutely dumbfounded as to why some folks were thinking this would be a close game. Other than games @EU and @NIU, the Shox should whoop every MVC team by 15+.
While the boys haven't played their best ball early on this year, (due to missing some key players, new faces lacking D1 experience and the team has yet to coalesce), as we get healthy and gain experience, our talent is catching up to the expectations.

Just wait til we lose one. Your outlook will mysteriously change.
