So, maybe less 3Ptrs from...Grady? Maybe put that shot on the shelf.
Grady got 'jerked' quickly after laying that brick.

We know what to expect from Fred, Ron and Evan. Zach is becoming a constant, a good constant.

Shaq and Anton are complimenting each other. I would like to see the post be a threat for 20 not 12 or 13. Seems like they often break open and guys aren't seeing them or are not ready to pass.

Conner seems to still be figuring out when he should pull the trigger. Seems hesitant which a good shooter cannot afford. I'll taken an open 15+ anytime, especially with 10 or less seconds on the clock.

I know the end of the bench failed but I have some sympathy. It is so hard to sit there for 2 hours and come in against already warm players.

If Rashard can start finishing our points in the paint will go up significantly.

        We gonna be alright.
Big relief... I thought we were going 11-7.

Anybody else think we too often pass up a decent shot with 10 seconds only to take a bad one at 3?

Overall, I though we looked really good, especially at the defensive end. Offense in the paint is still a work in progress, but it does seem to be progressing in Shaq and Grady's play.

Baker was way too tentative on offense most of the game, I'm wondering why. Is he trying to prove he can run the offense and create for others, ie auditioning for the NBA? I realize he got his points in the end, but his tentativeness hurt us in the first half, imo.

Loved the play of Fred, Zach, Shaq and Grady, and liked Conner's effort on D and his great move to the bucket early in the game.

He happened to be in the game when the refs were trying to make sure we didn't cover. I'll give him a pass. Only one of the calls against him wasn't questionable.

Fair point. Maybe better than fair.

I agree that his second one was not a foul. That was an incredible stretch of like 6 straight fouls in a row. Hot garbage.

But that lineup with him running the show also looked like hot garbage.

Was this sarcasm or a heat of the moment post? Otherwise, I'm curious what MVC teams you see us losing 7 times to?

Ron was interviewed on the post-game show (player of the game) and said he's very focused on defending the other teams best player (guard); he seems to relish the opportunity to cut off the "head of the snake" so to speak. He's simply one of the best overall players in the country and would start for every team in the country. I'm not sure there's a better overall player. Coach Marshall says he's a 5 tool player; Ron defends, rebounds, sets screen, gets assists, blocks shots... oh, and he shoots pretty well when needed. :)

                        • Oh, and 32 free throws (13 and 19) taken by both teams made for a much more enjoyable game than what we experienced with Nevada.

While it wasn't great, they couldn't do anything. Everything was a foul or some sort of call. Can't get into an offense when you aren't allowed to cross over, set screens or get post position.

                              • Our guards are improving on getting some passes inside to our bigs. CF is also getting better at this and made some nice passes today including 2 assists. We will be at our best when we get really good at that and establish our inside game. Shaq is shooting a nice % from the field and I love those Sam Jones/Tim Duncan bank shots. Shaq and Grady are settling in nicely at the 5 and I hope there will be times they play at the same time just to see how that works. I keep thinking our outside shooting and throws will become more consistent. Baker continues to draw lots of attention from defenders but calmly gets his numbers in the confines of our offense and is defending like a rock star. With our stingy Defense, as we shoot the rock like I think we can, we will be a very hard team to beat in this here Valley.

FVV gets 6 assists and 3 steals. We will flourish on D. even more now that he is regaining his speed and quickness through the injury. Wessel and MM were off some on offense today. Even so, in 13 minutes MM was 4-4 on throws and nabbed 3 rebounds and had 2 assists. 3G mentioned he thinks Brown is progressing and he does comment that he likes his Defense. Also Kelly is showing flashes of improvement and that will be a good thing. In only 13 minutes, #0 had 5 points and 5 rebounds.

So we go into a New Year undefeated in the Valley as we head to Bradley. So far, so good.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.
