That was a good win last night. Nice to know that if the shots aren't falling, this team can win with defense and rebounding. Not a big surprise based on the last several years. I'm looking forward to going to the game on Saturday. I think the offense will take off.

Props to those of you at CKA last night!
"It was crazy," said Zimmerman, who shot four of six from the field and totaled six rebounds and four turnovers. "It's a crazy place to play."
Coach Rice said "There is not a tougher place to play in the country than Wichita. The experience of playing in a game like this is going to serve us extremely well going forward."

I love ugly wins. Anyone who has ever played or watched a significant amount of basketball knows that shots aren't always going to fall. The important thing is that we got quality looks. The shots will fall eventually.
The D, rebounding, and effort were great. Those are the things we can control night in and night out. Shooting will come and go. If we control those three things we'll be in games even if our shooting is off. When it's on you get games like against Pitt, @CU, UNLV at home, etc.

1. Zimmerman is crazy talented, but kind of a whiney lil b!tch in spots.
2. Didn't care for the officiating, very uneven.
3. Best press we will see all year.
4. If you were there in person, Wessel's value sparkled like a diamond up a goat's azz.
5. HCGM loves those kind od games more than I do.
6. Kelly has slid down the pecking order a bunch, huh?
7. Monday night I shall call in and pose the free throw question.
8. Every time I see Fred go to the rack, I swear he can't do that again.
9. Baker really doesn't have to score to have a fantastic game.
10. Just slam the damn thing two-handed!!

Late in the game, there was a WSU inbound play under the UNLV basket. The ball was thrown to halfcourt, and I could have sworn it was going to be stolen by a UNLV defender. Evan went out and somehow came up with it. I was yelling to my buddies, "That was Evan's football defensive back background right there!"78-65

Our bigs, especially Nurger and Wamukota, have got to get stronger with the ball when they get a pass under the basket. Go up with authority and slam that thing through. Guys that tall shouldn't be going for the soft bank off the glass.

UNLV couldn't fight back from getting slobberknockered in the first 15 minutes of the game. They couldn't break down our D, chose horrible shots, missed those horrible shots, and got out hustled, out rebounded, and the crowd came to play.
Zimmerman is a hell of a player. Imagine how good the Shockers would be with a 7 footer like that?
Wamu reminded me of a Tekele a bit.

BushWhacker is certainly athletic enough but he is just not an instinctual player. Seems to me like he has to think his way through plays instead of just reacting to what is presented to him. What we really need from Bush is some quality defense and rim protection.
In any case at this point they have to be part of our center by committee group at least until Anton can get back (if he gets back).
