I think we will see more time outs used. Ron will play 38 minutes per game, and he can't do that without a breather or two.

I quoted your reply because I don't buy HCGM's black and white philosophy on time outs. He has used them when he feels like we are the under dog. He refuses to use them when he thinks we have a clear edge. I believe it cost a number of games in prior years. The last couple of years we have been too dominate for it to matter.

opponents. So I believe it is about his assessment of the match up and whether he thinks the team needs his help before the game starts.

I am wondering if he has an assistant that feels like they can take control when needed. Jan's always did in those types of games. I witnessed it first hand from the front row during a prior game at Tulsa.

I don't think he has a problem with using timeouts, its just that he feels with Fred and Ron out there for a majority of the time we can wether any situation that comes up. Now with Fred sidelined it might be a little different, but I do know he has said he likes saving them for late game situations, not that he'e against using them in the first half if needed.

I do think he has a bit of a problem with calling time outs. Even before FVV and Baker became Shockers I noticed that he had a tendency to forego time outs. During his first couple seasons I was pretty peeved that he didn't take advantage of the opportunity to gather his troops and set things up. I came to realize how much this philosophy developed our players. I do think we are at a point where a time out here and there could pay some beneficial dividends, though.Once a Shocker, Always a Shocker-- RIP Guy Alang-Ntang
