  • Coach's Show 11-23-15

I only heard bits but coach seemed upbeat, all things considered.

I thought his comments on UNI were, interesting.

Says (with the current healthy players) we probably aren't really a top 25 team.

The injury situation obviously is troubling.

He sounded as upbeat as he possibly could, given what's happen in the past week. I thought I could detect a slight deflation in his tone; which is to be expected.

What was good to hear is that he said he had just gotten out of a good and inspired practice. Hopefully, this shock to the system will help shake a little of the rust off and amp everyone's volume up.

Coming into the season, with everyone telling you how great you are, it's easy to be a little sluggish, nonchalant, and/or lackadaisical. No better way to wake everyone up then by throwing them into the fire.

Several players who may have been discouraged by the available PT can now see lots of PT available. That can be motivating. Seeing PT open up could be a huge difference between what they've done so far and what they're going to do from this point on.

Another great point. Nothing is more motivating than actually being on the court.

I'd like to send my condolences to the team that draws us for the first weekend of March Madness. When healthy our talent will be far more impressive than our seeding.

That's the link for the archive. I'm listening now and will post the UNI comments if someone doesn't beat me to it.

He spoke at length about how great UNI's win was. How they were in the arena and he asked Don Hall to throw it on the board and make and announcement. DH said he did and got a great response from the crowd.

Talked about sending Jacobsen a text message of congratulations. Talked about what it is like to win a game like that and have your phone blow up.

                    Overall, extremely complimentary to UNI.

Said that the 2 guard spots will be Ron, Ty and Zach Brown with JR and Zach Bush as needed.

That's gonna open a lot of minutes for McDuffie at the 3 with Evan.

I'm sure the practice included a little "pep" talk from HCGM. The game can't come quick enough! C'mon, Shox! Time to use a little MTXE!

I like that guard rotation as our best possible option with Evan and Markis at the 3.

I have no idea if it's possible or not, but given the fact that Rashard has been scoring better so far this season and appears to be able to do even more, is there any chance he can move up and also play a little bit at the 3 spot if we needed to go a little bigger?

I haven't paid attention to his ball handling ability this year but if it's anything like last year I would say no. He lost the ball on multiple breakaways last season.
