I get it. I'm not expecting him to be Fred out there. I'm just noting something that's not good that Marshall's even hinted at. It's just totally out of the flow of the offense. When they go in, they're great shots. When they don't, they're immediate turnovers and Taylor seems to almost immediately get yanked.

You're right though. We need him to stay cool for the next week or two. Hopefully he responds well and continues to grow as a point guard under Marshall's system.

Pretty good stuff isn't it? He's an exceptional young man to meet in person. I'd love for him to have a lot of success in the next few games just like everyone else.

Ty is getting yanked to be coached at the time he has done something that can be corrected. Some posts have wondered about Ty getting "coached" every time he comes out of the game. It sounds a bit like Ty is good with that and wants it in order to become better. Maybe he was getting yanked because of an opportunity to be constructive rather than getting yanked because he made an error. That would explain why Ty seems to take Marshall's "coaching" so well.

If Taylor can handle the pressure of playing point as a Fr in November against the likes of USC, Xavier, and Notre Dame, then he's ahead of VanVleet at the same time in Fred's career. Fred may have handled it, but he never had to do it.

Ty reminds me of freshman Matt Braeuer in reckless abandon lightning speed but a much better shooter. Rooting for young Mr Tyler to play very well this tournament. Could see marked improvement in shot selection last game, so listening and learning dont seem to be an issue. Could he be the reincarnation of Tyrone Shoelace?

Not only an improvement in shot selection, but an improvement in actually trying to run the offense. He started getting vocal and ordering the team around. He's gaining confidence, and wants to perform (Shaq needs to learn this from him), now he just needs to learn to control that.

To your point, when he takes the quick shot, our guys are out of position defensively so when he misses the opponents will tend to get an easier transition bucket. Another concern would be that while he's draining them he's reinforcing what will eventually be a bad habit once he goes cold.

Big difference with him and freshman Fred was that Fred didn't look to get his shots up, he was pass first, second and third before looking for a shot. I'm sure 3G is trying to coach him up but it's probably hard for Ty to just turn it off when he's used to being the best scorer on the team.

If he's open, I have no problem with him shooting it. Kid has a nice stroke.

I have just a few words of advice to the young man:

I'm hoping that we don't have to rest our entire hopes on TT. Just remember:

Also keep in mind, Fred had Early, Hall, Baker, Armstead, and Cotton to pass to then, all of whom where equal to better options for scoring. Ty has Baker, Grady, FVV....umm no, and Shamet...ahh no, and to be determined later that are better options.

Early and Hall at the 4/5 will make a lot of guys look better.
