  • I'm amazed that Evansville isn't able to take care of Illinois state. Maybe the Redbirds really have turned a corner. I thought Evansville would do better than this.

    • Evansville is going to ride 2 "MVC 1st-teamers" to 5+ league losses. Again.

You would think winning would matter, even a little bit.

      • The game turned when they called a VERY suspicious offensive foul on Mock to send him to the bench. Yes, he was blocking off a defender with his arms out, but I've never seen that called a foul when the arms weren't actually holding the defender back, which they weren't.

        • Watching this game without a dog in the fight...I'm convinced Muller's ISU team is the second coming of Lowery's SIU teams. They play the same way. Just foul them multiple times every time down the floor. The officials will eventually become numb to the contact and stop calling them. And all the "inadvertant" shots to people's heads are extremely Lowery-esque.

Just make sure if he purchases the bag, it's with cold hard cash.

              • Somebody stick a fork in Evansville. They are now 1 game out of 6th.

Marty should be gone. But hey, at least they'll have 2 first teamers.

                • Evansville played like they didn't even care. Illinois State seems to have that effect on teams.

They've been waiting for March since they lost to us. Not much to play for until then.

I think it started before that, in a manner very similar to the Shocks game against the redbirds, Purcell went over the back of Wing and Wing was called for the foul. On the inbound possession, Purcell was fouled and sank both free throws while the Aces barely drew rim on the subsequent possession and then it was off to the races.

You have to be careful of your bias (and I don't really mean "your" but anyone's bias). Evansville has no depth and limited athleticism. They are worn down, and mentally fatigued after losing their super bowl at home to us (not just losing but basically getting run out of their own gym).

They had a hangover game against UNI and now they are clearly a "beaten" team. But it was inevitable. Refusal to cut minutes for your stars and they will either wear down or get injured or go cold...something. Then what? Lose.

ISU on the other hand, has talent. There's a reason we recruited Hawkins and Kentucky recruited McIntosh. Those 2 kids are athletic and talented. Head cases too, but when they get it going we're the only team with players that can stop them in this league.

Plus DAP is finally playing close to last year's level, Lee is finding his stride....and both coaches are about the same. Average at best. I wasn't surprised at all. The Redbirds are finally starting to play to the level of their talent.

                        • I don't think we were done any favors last night with Indiana knocking off Iowa and Cal crushing Oregon. Not sure what else happened, but those two can't be helpful to our cause.

Indiana wins so Crean's job is safe, which means Marshall's job is safe.

                            • UConn losing at Temple will drop them a bit. VCU losing at a terrible UMass will drop them a lot

Going into those games, both UConn and VCU were right on WSU's tail as far as NCAA seeding. As @ShockdaWorld: pointed out, Indiana and Cal had good nights, so overall, it was just an average night for WSU. Most predictions I'm seeing have WSU as a 7 or 8 seed currently.

Cal had 1 vote in the coaches poll, and none in the AP, so it would take a heck of a swing for them to pass us this week. And even if they do manage that, 4 of their last 6 are on the road where they have gone 1-6 this year.
