12:8 assists to turnovers...3:2 ratio, I'd say he's a very good shooter/scorer. I've never seen him play without turning the ball over. Paige is a better point guard. And I'll take healthy FVV over either of them every chance I get.

Trimble scored or assisted on 52 of the 81 points Maryland scored. Trimble now has 39 assists and 19 turnovers on the year and is averaging 16ppg. You've named two players that you would take over Trimble. Those two players also happen to be seniors and Trimble is a sophomore. The hate for Trimble from Shocker fans is completely unfounded. It's not his fault the coaches from Team USA selected him over Fred. The guy is a very good player and easily one of the Top 20 college players in the game right now.

Neither is the love he gets nationally compared to the two players we would take. We saw Baker and Trimble next to each other and it wasn't even a contest. And Fred is better than Ron.

        • Lol, so we are going to consider the Pan-Am games as the only comparison point?? Did you not watch Trimble tonight and all of last season? The kid is unbelievably talented and once again, he's only a sophomore.

I would take FVV and Paige over him as well but for those who think he's garbage, you are crazy.

          • We all wish our boys would start playing like Turgeon's squad. I'm seriously concerned with the mental toughness of a handful of our players. I sure hope something clicks with these guys, regardless of the cavalry's return.

            • When you commit as many turnovers as you nearly score points, it's essentially a trade off.

              Trimble is garbage. Sorry.

              ... No really, deuces.

I don't think I said he's garbage, but he is extremely overrated as a POINT guard. I don't want a guy with 8 turnovers as my point guard. That's all I'm saying. I only named two, but there are other point guards I'd take over him as well.

I'm not sure about that. One is a 4 stretching to be a usable 5, the other is true, traditional 5. I like Hamilton a lot, but I hazard to say I would trade some of our 3 and 4 talent (where we are stacked for the future - regardless of current individual performance) for a legit 5.

We've done very well the past few years with Hamilton-type guys playing 5, but at some point that will come up and bite us. Recruiting solid 5's is a bit of a hump this staff has never gotten over, for whatever reason. The one ch!nk in the 3G armor.

                      • 8 turnovers is a big number, but the pace of that game was bound to increase the number of turnovers.

I hear you. I'd love to have a legit 5 man. I'm just not sure I like Humphries motor. But, maybe that's just part of the deal. He could prove me completely wrong too.

While the Terps are a heck of a team this post got me thinking - what would Turg do if he were in Gregg's shoes at the moment? Let's not forget his last season here.

                            • I believe that HCGM has acknowledged in the past that he has had difficulties consistently recruiting quality bigs to WSU. I took it to be a supply and demand issue. There are a lot fewer quality bigs available each year as compared to quality guards.
ShockerNet is a rat infested cess pool.

I wish we would start playing with the confidence they have, but I'd prefer to also have them play defense.
