With all due respect, it is comedy of the highest order to suggest that Barry was or is the current answer. He is a truly great man. I find it incredibly difficult to criticize him due to this fact. But it was time for him to go. And he isn't the answer now either. Is he an upgrade over the current guy? Yeah, I think so. Almost certainly. That really isn't saying much though. I am thrilled that he is having success in Carbondale. I wish him all the success in the world, save for two games each year. But it wasn't a mistake to let him go.

Getting rid of Hinson was definitely the right move. Good job. Good effort.

Edit: One more thought. I believe Kyle Weems was a Hinson recruit but never played for Hinson and was a Freshman for Cuonzo Martin. Basically, the falloff post-Hinson would have been much worse and much sooner had Hinson not left a nice present for his successor.

'Zo is a great coach, but wow, I never realized that. Zo quite possibly elevated his entire career because of Barry Hinson. Weems was by far the best player on any Zo team at MSU.

Barry Hinson inked Will Creekmore, a transfer from Boston University, following the 2007 fall semester. Hinson was fired spring of 2008, the day after the Bears lost in St. Louis.

Zo owes his two most prized players, Will Creekmore and Kyle Weems, to Barry Hinson.

I realize that the committee will consider Michigan State a "quality loss" and move them up a seed line or two for it, but didn't realize it completely moved to the win column
