  • Last year Texas was #25 overall, #52 on O, #21 on D.
    This year Texas is #27 overall, #32 on O, #36 on D.

Last year Texas was #350 in defensive turnover %.
This year Texas is #126 in defensive turnover %.

It appears they are getting steals due to their new Shaka pressure D, but they aren't any more effective in overall defense. I imagine that part of this is players learning the system and making mistakes that lead to easy buckets when they don't get the steal. Will be interesting to see how Shaka does in years 2 and 3.

I don't follow Texas (at all), but I vaguely remember them having a huge rim protector sometime in the last couple of years. If that was last year, could that have made some difference as far as their KenPom D rating?

Myles Turner, their 6'11" center, was the #11 draft pick last year. He blocked 2.6 shots per game and was pretty stout in the paint.

It changed. The variation trend has been downward.
