21, tact can be very important, but would you rather him sugar coat everything, or even just not answer questions that have answers that fans may not like?

I like his honesty and I like knowing that he seems genuinely annoyed that he is recruiting this early by throwing barbs at himself and the team's performance. Most of the time ultra-competitive people cannot control their outbursts. I just like knowing that WSU not only has a great coach, but that he is that competitive, and now he feels like he has something to prove. Watch out MVC!

Not going after your head 21, but the difference between liking the coach and loving the coach of your favorite team gives one a different mind set. Listening to the show last night I thought several times to myself, "gee this guy is really good in interviews , I love him!" I thought he was so great last night I plan on listening to the show again tonight via the podcast.

I didn't listen to the show last night, but I know what 21 is saying. He seems to throw the players under the bus at times to make himself look good. He shouldn't try to elevate himself above the program at this point.

Listen....I think he's doing a great job and will do a better job going forward. But he's in it with these players right now. No need to keep reminding everybody that he was successful at Winthrop.

As flanders said would you want honesty or ass kissing (paraphrasing a little). HCGM is doing amd saying what he thinks is necessary to elevate this program. It is necessary to remeber he is a great coach, these players weren't the top talent in the country, and we have been plagued with bad luck through injuries and bad calls and close shots etc. I like the honesty from a coach that is gunna do great things.

I'm sorry NCAA, I really DON'T feel he has, as you put it, thrown the players under the bus at times. He has been critical of them at times, but not unduly. And he NEVER deserted them. He does tell it like it is and most of the time I'm all for that. I would rather know what he is thinking than to let my imagination run wild (because believe me he is much better off with his thoughts than mine). Maybe by next year those straight-forward comments won't hurt as much because there won't be as many of them or as much CAUSE for them. I am SO looking forward to next year. It can't get here soon enough. Hang in there Coach - you have a lot of people at your back.

It's the fans that bring up his success at Winthrop... just listen to the podcast again. In my opinion, he has handled things superbly this season… better than I would have expected, considering the lack of success.

The space was set up for retail sales as well as complimentary soft drinks and snacks for Shocker supporters. To my knowledge, it was the first time for this arrangement by Shockers in St. Louis.

Well, I might be misunderstanding, but Wichita State has held pre-game pep rallies at Union Station for years, going back to the mid '90s, if I remember correctly.


PS. This was the first time I've missed the Valley Tournament in the last nine years. I can't wait to get back next year.

Nothing he said was wrong in my eyes. He should be pissed that he's recruiting this early. Aren't all of us? Don't we all expect to be the best? I know Coach does. I also don't think he's thrown anyone under the bus. He's been critical about some at times and rightfully so. He's also been critical of himself and his staff at times and rightfully so. I love listening to Coach speak and love to watch him coach. WSU will be back on top before we know it and it'll be fun. I can't wait til summer gets here and I can sneak in and see a few pick up games.


And yes. I DO have a man crush on Marshall.

I like Marshall. I really REALLY do. BUT I think he could benefit from some classes in finesse and tact. The man says things that can just sometimes leave you shaking your head.

Instead of saying he and his staff are very actively recruiting -- he said (and I AM paraphrasing, but not much) that this is the absolute earliest in nine years he has recruited. (The way I took that (not only because of his words but because of his tone) is that this is the first year in many that Marshall and his staff are not preparing for post season so he has the time to recruit early) I know, I know. It's a small thing. However, it's not the FIRST small thing he has managed to get a dig in with. (Remember the Missouri State game comment.)

I am aware he was GOD at Winthrop and probably could say anything he liked without thinking about it, but if his aspirations eventually lay with one of the high major conferences, he needs to be a bit more diplomatic. I like a coach that tells it like it is, but PLEASE use some diplomacy.

Coach tells it like it is. Diplomacy isn't really an issue with him and even if it wasn't who cares? there are a lot of great coaches out there who are prickly as can be.

All I am going to say is: with the stupid questions he fielded on that show(about his clothing, the weather, etc.) being there at Applebees and talking to him and his wife afterwards and during, I thought he showed great tact and presentation and did not have a problem with anything he said. Just my 5 cents.
