Zach Brown could very well be our next Cleanthony, except we'll get him for 4 years! (Or he just might be good enough to leave and go NBA after his 3rd year). With how strong he came on in the second half and especially end of the season, he'll be a star in no time. I'm just dying to see how he, and the other sophomores have progressed in the offseason.

I hate the offseason. Too long.

Wow, the critical thinking skills in the US really must be getting worse. Now I am being called a KU lurker for saying that Bill Self is a great coach.

FYI, I have three college degrees from WSU, and I started attending Shocker home games before Antoine Carr was a freshman. As your math skills might be as lacking as your critical thinking skills, that is nearly 35 years ago.

        KU lurker? Seriously?

Furthermore, I came to this site as I was tired of trying to discuss Shocker basketball on sites like ESPN, where KU fanboys are irrational, nasty, and juvenile. They endlessly talk about WSU as not a real college, GM is not a good coach, the shockers are not a good team, etc.

Seems like that type of fanboy is not just a KU phenomenon. So sad.

Regardless, Bill Shelf is a great coach, and me being a die-hard Shocker fan does not blind me to reality.

Well, Carr was a freshman in 1979...so more than 35 years ago. Gotta check your numbers if you're going to insult someone's math skills.

As a suggestion, if you want to talk Shocker hoops, don't do it on a KU fan board. If you want to talk KU hoops, don't do it on a Shocker fan board. If you want to talk K-State hoops, you're probably inbread.

The mediocre "in-game coach" Bill Self's record:

              3 Sweet 16s
              5 Elite Eights
              1 NCAA runner-up
              1 National championship

All at three different schools in the last 16 years. Just think about how good his record would be if Bill Shelf could wasn't a mediocre coach. Lastly, even (some) die-hard Shocker fans like myself recognize a great coach when we see one.

So looking at Zach's numbers from last year, over the year he had:
                10.5 mpg 3.3 ppg 0.3 apg 1.4 rpg
Over the last 6 games (small sample size alert) he had:
                13.0 mpg 5.5 ppg 0.3 apg 2.0 rpg

So I think a reasonable estimate would be him playing 20 mpg as the 6th man next year.
I think a conservative estimate would be:
                20 mpg 8 ppg 0.5 apg 4 rpg
But I think he will do better than that, I am thinking:
                20 mpg 10.5 ppg 0.5 apg 5.5 rpg

Last year we had 3 players over 10 ppg. FVV, Ron and Darius. This year I expect we have a little more scoring balance with FVV, Ron, Grady, and ZBrown all averaging over 10 ppg.

That would be quite the luxury as your 6th man. What do you all think?

Love me some Zach Brown! I think 20 mpg is about right. If he's scoring 10+ in 20, he's going to get more than 20 mpg. I think 7-8 ppg is about right. 3 rebounds and 1.5 assists to balance it out.

How about we Shelve that topic then?

No....? Okay, I'll see myself out.

                      • Kelly and Morris might make big steps as well. I expect both will get around 20 per game as well. Shaq will probably score 8-10 with 4 boards and Kelly might get 6 and 4 or 5 rebounds per.

Yeah, that's true. In my head I thought as 6th man, no way he gets over 20 mpg, but he may very well start or just get a lot of PT. I'm looking to see him be more assertive with the ball as the year goes on. At the beginning of last year he was definitely nervous handling it more than catch and shoot/catch and pass. With his frame and athleticism, if he adds some drives, it will help him get more open looks from downtown.

We have to remember there are only 200 minutes to go around. At the least Ron and Fred will take 50 minutes (last year they combined for 65.4). Evan gets 25. Grady also gets 20 to 25. Zach gets 20. If both Shaq and Rashard get 20 each, we are already looking at 40 mpg left without mentioning Connor, JAMit, McDuffie, Rauno, Bush, Taylor or Hamilton. Minutes will be a precious commodity. Top 10 program problems.

Agreed. I think Evan gets a little less, and Shaq probably only gets a little less than I stated. As a random guess (because these things are always stupid):

                              Fred-28
                              Ron-28
                              Evan-19
                              Anton-24
                              Shaq-17

                              Landry-11
Conner-15 (he won't play several games, so he gets us over the 200 per game)
                              Zach-20
                              Rashard-20
                              Bush-12

That leaves around 10-12 per game for Rauno and Markis. I don't think we will go much over a ten man rotation.

If Zachary got stronger upper body over the summer, in 20 mpg he should get six points from the charity stripe
