While that may be true, I looked at the breakdown and saw the state of Florida has over 1900 votes with 97% in favor of FGCU. Compare that to the 640 votes from the state of Kansas with 99% in favor of Wichita State. So I'm thinking a lot of FGCU fans are stuffing the ballot even better than we are.

I do think there are some casual voters who are casting their votes as you fear--based on the team that achieved the most beyond their apparent ability. I hope when the champion is announced that SI clarifies this point and basically declares that team the least deserving of the title Cinderella because it was the most underseeded Cinderella in modern tournament history.
Sure, I understand you could interpret it in a couple of different manners.

Yeah...and to be fair, the population of Florida is just a little bit more than Kansas.

I was surprised there was no mention of Creighton as a Cinderella.

Unless someone creates a script, I think our luck runs out here. We won this round with 2,269 votes. FGCU won with 12,443.

                    This isn't about CBI Cinderellas

In fairness, watching Creighton play defense is pretty much what I imagine it would be like to watch someone try to play basketball while wearing glass slippers.

Also, as HCGM has said, Cinderella lost one glass slipper, not 3 or 4. Or even 2. Just one. Happens to be the same number of consecutive NCAA wins Creighton is capped out at.

Wouldn't one of the ugly step sisters be an appropriate analogy for Creighton?

Voting is up for the finals. Time to kick it up a notch.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

In order to be in the whole Cinderella conversation, you have to have done something...ever...

Fortunately, WSU has rapidly moved away from belonging in the discussion. Consistent, repeated success makes it less of a novelty like with most of these schools involved. Creighton hasn't even entered into it yet.

Sort of hard to be cast as a Cinderella when you never get out of the first weekend of the tournament... like, ever. Whenever ESPN gets around to doing a fan poll of biggest paper tiger programs Creighton will be a shoe-in for greatness in that context.
