From all accounts, this is NOT new news. This has been known for some time, if not publicly announced.

I expect him to play this season, and play a lot.

Wow, suspended from one exhibition game and the first regular season game is just "up in the air".

Hawkins doesn't even wanna be there and Muller is going to have him ready to play after a ONE EXHIBITION game suspension after racking up all of those offenses. And that doesn't even consider prior history with the guy.

I'm just sitting over here thinking about how while Ill St. is talking about a problem-child, we are in the process of signing a Norse beast to ravage their arena for another 4 years.

Marshall lined up a scholarship at a prep school in the middle of nowhere so Hawkins could get eligible. Hawkins got kicked off the basketball team and dropped out of the prep school before semester break. I think, at that point, any offer from Marshall was off the table so far it got sucked into Jupiter's gravity just before getting swallowed by a black hole.

Hawkins eligibility problem is the most likely reason this will be his last year. He had to sit a year as a non-qualifier. If he was on a path to graduate in 4 years, he could have gotten a fourth year of eligibility. He was listed as a Senior on IlSU's roster months ago - way before any announcement that he "decided not to return" was made.

I don't think he had an option to return.

He'll hit the books as hard as he can, with a lot of help from a lot of different people, and then as soon as the semester ends so do the classes. I predict he's gonna make a mistake during the Holidays.

What could possibly go wrong ?
