If anyone wants a better reminder of how legit CF is, they have full games on YouTube of the 2012 U17 team, not just the highlights. Not sure why he struggled at KU because watching those FIBA games this kid looked very good.

If Frankamp turns out to be used as a zone buster or a role player, I will not be disappointed. That may be all we need from him. I certainly hope he does better than that, but I'm not going to be disappointed if he doesn't live up to the hype of being a top-40 HS player.
This is going to be a fun season for many reasons. The first time you grudgingly have to say something positive about CF will be one of them.

BAKER: "Everyone seems to be the part we need this year"

        This was from last week.

If Baker has actually found a way to work "more and harder"......look out.

Things may continue to be great for a long time. But I'm not sure it will ever be quite as fun as it has been for the past couple of years, and right now. The combination of talent, character, longevity and accomplishment is just going to be difficult for another group to top.

Couldn't agree more. That is why I plan to savor every second of every game this year. Hard to imagine it getting much better than it has been the last few years.

In a weird sense, I will probably even be able to enjoy this season if it is a 10 loss season because of what this senior class has already accomplished. I fully expect them to absolutely dominate, but at this point, it almost doesn't even matter to me. They have been so incredible that it just feels like a victory lap to me. Fortunately, I know from what I've already seen that they are going to work hard and lead us to another amazing season. I guess I'm just making the point that I have zero stress going into this season. The program has been built. Everything is in place. Just enjoy the good basketball.

CF can flat out shoot. Now, whether the rest of his game allows him to DO that, we'll just have to see. But shooting? No question.

I'm looking forward to some of this from CF next year:

This coming season is going to be... very special. And that's saying something after the past 3 years.

                          Transistion

Always interesting how much of a change 1st year players have to adjust to play major D-1 college basketball.

They may have done some lifting in HS, but have no clue of how much physical strength is required to play at the next level.
An HCGM practice is their first eye opening experience. It is also their 1st understanding of how important the whirlpool is after practice.

RB used the term "lean" in describing a couple of guys.
Let me translate what that really means...

"Paging Dr. Rosenboom. Dr. Rosenboom, please report to the Physical Education Building. You have a couple of patients who require your immediate attention."

                          That is all.

Even if WSU's wins don't drop off, it's incredibly unlikely the seasons will ever be quite as satisfying as they have been lately.

There's something far more enjoyable about the ride up than the plateau, even if that plateau is on top. Still enjoyable, but not quite AS enjoyable. Even if we rattle off 30 win seasons for the next decade straight, the last few will probably be most of our favorites.

Unless there's a national title in there.

Please stop posting this type of convoluted thinking; your posts have IMO begun to consistently fall into the abyss of useless tripe!

One of the most important things the Sr's this year can leave to the underclassmen is the attitude, will to succeed, and work ethic it takes to achieve what those guys have done.

They've had two years to work with the So class, but will only have one year with the Fr class. If the young guns want to learn from a group that's had a F4, an undefeated regular season, and a S16, they've got that opportunity.

We've got 2 Sr's with exceptional talent who are great examples that there's more required than just raw talent. Baker and VanVleet are some of the most dedicated and hard-working players that have played at WSU. Both could work half as hard and they'd still be great, but they would never do that.

Then we've got a Sr who doesn't have that elite talent, but he takes hard work, effort, and hustle to new levels. The young guns can learn from him that hard work and effort can take them places that their raw ability might not allow them to go.

It's clear by now that both Baker and VanVleet were probably top-50 guys coming out of HS. I think being among the top 20 or 30 college basketball players for 2 years and still playing D1 ball is probably de facto evidence that they were at least 4* coming out of HS if the star ratings were actually worth a crap.

Those guys took that level of talent and approached the game as if they weren't even top-300 and had something to prove. Wessel wasn't top-300, but he had the attitude that made him a returning 2-year starter on a F4, an undefeated, and a S16 team.

There's a lot the young guns need to learn. The attitude of the Sr's is maybe the most important lesson they can learn.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
