There is not a "Gregg Marshall" candidate available. Anyone who understands the competitive landscape of the Big South and watched his team play over the years knew he was a can't miss candidate for WSU.

Having said that, there are multiple obtainable high quality candidates. The point is to find the right balance between upside/potential and minimizing unknown/unproven capabilities of the candidate pool.

I think Jans very well may be the right candidate to replace whomever WSU hires this time around if forced to do so.

I almost included Jacobson in my original list. I am a big fan, but oscillate on him due to his in ability to find consistency at UNI. I am willing to consider that I underestimate the challenges in Cedar Falls...

I don't think Ben Jacobson would be considered. I like him as a coach but I simply don't think WSU would go after another Valley Coach. Plus Coach Jacobson seems quite content at UNI.

Jans would be a good choice, but I don't see him ripping the heart out of Bowling Green.

i could for wsu. plus i think he may be right guy for job bc he probably has some kind of relationship with the recruits coming in next year. maybe they stay. ron and fred know him. I dont think they go pro anyways but maybe they are pissed off enough they do. hell ron could transfer and be eligible at another program right away. maybe with jans they stay. maybe he can convince marshall to let us keep heier who seems to be a good recruiter and up and coming assistant.

I think Gregg is worth every penny he makes, and probably more, but didn't we just re-do his contract last year? I would think the point of having a contract that everyone is happy with is so you don't have to renegotiate every time you have another good season. If he's underpaid, get him to a point that makes him happy and will stop entertaining offers. You want to be like Gonzaga? I don't see Mark Few flirting with offers every year. Few has made it quite known that he's not leaving and his name no longer comes up in coaching searches. It could be possible that he has more success in recruiting because his recruits aren't afraid of him leaving. It would be nice if our coach would do the same. End rant.

This name had also come to my mind. He is a good coach amd recruiter. I think he could do very well in Wichita. He may be able to thrive in a non-football situation as well.

This really all boil down to if WSU wpuld go after an up and comer or go with someone who is proven. If the latter is the case, Barnes should be on the top of that list.

To come to WSU? I think he absolutely would.

I agree with every one of your reasons why he would a good choice. I just question his wllingness to leave after one year.

I really question whether or not he would be willing to leave after only 1 year at BGSU. My gut tells me he probably would not. Although Jody Adams was hired away from Murray State after only 1 year there where she was even more successful than Jans was in his 1st year and Jody did not come back to a school where she had been an key component for 7 years. Still I have a feeling Chris is getting a lot of love at BGSU and would find it hard to leave at this point.

That said I would not assume that was the case and if he was my top choice I would definitely approach him with an enticing offer. If nothing else we could perhaps help Chris get a nice boost in his pay at BGSU.

A change of scenery and an eviroment that truly care about college basketball, might be all Barnes needs to revitalize his career. (Eiither in Wichita or elsewhere)

I'm pretty sure he left with the intent of being back in Wichita one day.

And he certainly has no control over when the opportunity may present itself. If, in fact, Wichita State is where he would like to be it would be a risky move on his part to pass on the 1st opportunity to do so if such an opportunity would come to pass which may or may not present itself even if 3G decides to move on.

No on Barnes. Why would we want a coach who can't get 4/5 star players to the S16?

Yes on Jans. Would do better with 2/3 star recruits than Barnes could do with higher ones and
I seriously doubt Barnes could get 4/5 star players to come here.

As posted on another thread - bump GM to 2.5M with .5M bonus incentive with every S16 and
                                1M incentive for every F4
