So you're thinking Shamet redshirts? If not, where do they get their minutes? How about one plays at home and the other on the road.

shamet redirts? what the hell are you talking about with that? shamet and taylor can both get 8 minutes per game.. on a loaded roster.

That's where we differ. If they're both getting 8 minutes, then both of them are wasting a year. If one of them was getting 8, then it's about having depth in case of injury (assuming everybody else at their spot is getting better than 15 per game). Both of them getting 8 when they both have a RS year available is a waste of a season. Why not play Fred and Ron 25 each and Conner and Landry 15 each? As it stands right now Zach is going to be limited to less than 20. Let's throw another freshman into the mix then we can limit his development too. McDuffie? Lucky to get 10 minutes even if Eric red-shirts.

IMO, the best way to develop youngsters is to give them as many minutes as they can handle. By running out 14 bodies Landry, Tyrone, Markis, and Rauno are all going to get screwed because all of them will barely touch the court.

        • The perfect storm is brewing, it is an EF5 on the Fred Vanvleet scale. It has a powerful combination of heat and rotation, and an endless supply of fuel. You don't wanna get in the way of this one, it will destroy anything in its path!

Defense and rebounding will get a freshman on the floor, and the ones who do that best while avoiding turnovers and comprehending the offense will get the most time.
I thought I read (maybe in the recruiting forum) that Taylor was the best defender of the incoming freshmen.

            • I recall a few years ago at this time of the year, ShockerNet (some - not all - but those "some" were very vocal) had Baker as the 13th guy on the bench. Over the years, Wessel has also been a much-speculated end of the bench player.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Count me in on both of those.

How do we really know how the Frosh will do? They've been practicing for an hour and one half a week (or so) with the coaches during the summer months. We will probably hear more in October.

                    • After Shocker Madness last year, I advocated for Nurger to start at the 5. At the time it seemed perfectly rational. Now it seems rather silly. As many have stated, Freshman are such a wildcard that predicting what they will do is nigh impossible. The first game will be really telling to see if coach has it in mind to redshirt anyone.

                      • Twas not too long ago that Zach Brown was the 13th man on the bench and the "odd man out". A lot can happen over the course of one season.

While I'm glad to see this, and hopeful that it will mea Seton Hall is a good RPI win, I also find it somewhat disturbing that the #6 team in the Big Least is considered #60 in the country. Hasn't that conference proven itself to not be all it's cracked up to be?

                              • We like to **** on them, but they were an RPI beast last season, finishing #3 overall and receiving 6 bids. They didn't do much with those bids (again), but they are certainly solid if unspectacular at the top and in the middle.
