Given the defenders he'll have playing with him (which will reduce the need for him to have to stop guys by himself or be the last line of defense) and the opportunity to play fewer minutes because of superior depth (which will leave him on the court less when he's tired), plus what's very likely to be superior coaching on defensive principles and technique, that should not be a serious problem.

Paul is not one to blow smoke. This team is stacked. And complete. And any other words you want to use.

        • Paul's rotation:

          Fred
          Ron
          Evan/Zach
          Anton
          Bush/Shaq

Probably three or four more players earn 10+ mpg: Conner, Landry, Rashard, Markis.

I think Tyrone and Eric will RS making Nurger the 12th man.

          Depth abounds:
          PG - Fred/Ron/Conner/Landry
          SG - Ron/Conner/Landry/Zach
          SF - Evan/Zach/Markis
          PF - Anton/Rashard/Markis/Evan
          C - Shaq/Bush/Anton/Rauno

That's one position for Fred, Rashard, and our three centers. Two positions for everyone else, and we are 4 deep at nearly every position.

Most interesting battles for PT are Conner vs Landry, Shaq vs Bush, Evan vs Zach, and Rashard vs Markis. Others will of course have a say in it as well.

17 threes in a row from Conner. He's gonna make opposing teams (and select few Shocker fans) look foolish. He gon' be good.

            • Here is a lineup for matchups when our foes dare try a packed-in-zone which sometimes worked last Season on us. I will match player to position. This lineup should loosen things up to a mild roar. You could also sub in Wessel or Brown in this "lights out party is over" shooting and scoring mix. With our depth, we will have more possibilities than ever before when various match-ups are required to win.

              1. FVV 2.Frankamp 3.Baker 4.Grady 5. Nurger
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

              • Scariest part is, the last time Marshall said farewell to the core of a recruiting class they won the NIT. This team will certainly be different than last year's though.
They will lack flashy dunks, or will they? The main source of fire power will be from the outside again and the depth chart goes deeper with tons of potential.
Their inside presence will be the weak spot again this year, or will it? It just seems like one of the bigs is due for a break out season.

McDuffie, Hamilton, and Kelly can all stretch the 4 as well. Shamet and Taylor also good shooters. These players are too good on paper!

                  • We can just as easily go to our own zone with Baker, Brown, and McDuffie pestering the perimeter and Grady and Morris checking anyone that dares to be in the middle.

                      • I predict FVV will lead us in both steals and assists. Since we have so many shooters and scorers now, look for FVV to break his own assists records easily. He may not see the need to score as much as needed late in the Season last Season several times. Baker has also developed into a strong defender and he should lead our team in scoring. It is also advantageous for us when FVV needs a blow or has rare foul issues, that Mr. Baker can run things from the point position as so well illustrated last Season several times. However, will other players be good enough also to start training from the point guard position and not hurt us but yet get us into our offensive flow like Baker could? Dunno, but I sure hope so which could spring-board us into next Season losing 2-All American guards at one time.

                        • I believe that, for the second year in a row, we will have 0 redshirts.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

I like and agree with this breakdown with only one major disagreement - Evan won't be battling anybody for PT any more than Tekele did last year. Especially with TC gone, the toughness and glue he brings are an integral part of the plan. I think he'll start every game barring injury, and average 20 minutes a game unless the average margin of victory is 25.

Yeah agree. There is just no way Evan is on the bench much. Unless it's a laffer" and Gregg is working in the Frosh.

Well...yes. What I was getting at was; will Evan average 18, 20, 22, or 24 minutes? What about Zach? How much influence will Zach have on Evans PT? It's a battle for minutes.
