Offseason Thread: 2015 Edition

Switch us to the 2 seed with the Beakers at 3, and I'm good with that proposed scenario.

If the selection committee puts WSU ahead of the glorious champs (or almost champs, who knows -- it has to happen some year) of the glorious Big 12minus2, check the ground beneath your feet. If it's a lot colder than usual (it'll be March in Kansas, after all), hell may have frozen over.

Otherwise, all it means is that WSU would be facing the winner of the 6-11 game in the round of 16.

Looking beyond just Frankamp, it's time to dream about next March. So I'll start with a best of all possible worlds Midwest Regional, topped by the following four teams:

#4 seed Louisville
#3 seed WSU
#2 seed Kansas (just because they're Kansas)
#1 seed Maryland

I'd take that combination any day and twice on Sunday, and after the first weekend, I figure the matchups will look like this: WSU against the winner of the 7-10 game (you don't really expect KU to want a rematch with WSU in the round of 16, do you?); and Maryland vs. Louisville, with Turgeon being saved from the regional final game he wants least by having the Cardinals dump him and Melo before he gets there. Then it's the Shocks and Louisville for a spot in the Final Four, and this time Fred, Ron, and the guys finish the job.

Since when do you get a #3 seed after running the table in the regular season?

Hopefully, our Squad will be a rebounding machine collectively. We lose Carter and Cotton who were solid rebounders. Grady could possibly lead our team in rebounds. Baker and FVV do a fine job rebounding from the guard position. Brown, Shaq, Kelly, Wamukota, and Nurger and our talented Freshmen Class should all be developing and improving in several areas including this one. Being one of the top 10 or 20 rebounding teams in the Country would be very beneficial. Is that a goal that is possible or even probable? Last Season, if I recall, we were in the top 10 or so at not turning the ball over and many games we were 10 or under? Last but not least I hope our Squad can shoot throws with the best of teams as well as draw many more fouls than we commit. These are areas that a team with solid Senior leadership can strive for and for sure add to our win totals by being consistent in doing so. Discus?

By the way, I think Channel 12 will be discussing Shocker basketball on Sports Sunday tomorrow night for those of you interested in watching.

We made page 11 on such a thread even in the off-season. The number 11 is a Shocker Net number. If you get drop-dead bored, go back and read the 11-11-11 Trivia thread that has developed through the years on here. It will entertain you for sure. Also, Baker got to wear #7 at the Pan-Am Games which was Mickey Mantle's number and a favorite number of many.

I was talking with my son today about Zach "Play Angry" Brown vs. Kelly "Play Sleepy" Oubre, and he wanted to see Brown's steal and dunk, so I looked around Shockernet, because I know I've seen it here. But before I found it here, one of my searches led me to this clip:

that came from enemy territory, and which I enjoyed even more, because it just keeps rewinding and showing the play over and over again. We watched it about seven or eight times, laughing more the more times we saw it.

My apologies if this one has already been posted, as it may well have been in one of the many celebratory postgame threads after the Skirmish at Omaha (it wasn't competitive enough in the second half to be called a battle), but if so, I never saw it until today. And even if you've seen it before, it's worth watching again. Enjoy Angry!

It is beyond hilarious to read the comments and see that we (Shocker Nation) are referred to as "arrogant."
