This has been addressed previously. Believe me, this doesn't all fall to Mr. Koch. There are many local supporters who are part of the coaches' club for the sole purpose of handing over cash that goes directly to coach salaries. I'm sure there are contingency plans in place as well. Too many people understand the value of HCGM to our team, school and city. We ain't letting him get away that easily.

There is a lot of deep wealth in Wichita other than Charles and David Koch.

I heard that and I'm certainly not in Coach's head but I think his opinion on that would change after 3-4 years of experiencing it.

I bet 3G is aware enough that it would hit no later then the middle of year 2. At Texas under Patterson, it might only take 6 months. While WSU has big money donors, I don't believe there are many who are meddlers.

I am definitely a meddler. A couple of years ago, I called Sexton and told him that since I am a Shocker Club member that I expect to get daily reports on the happenings of the basketball program. I haven't received any yet, but I'm sure they will start soon.

Taking that statement, as you posted it, there are P5 schools that have football and there are schools that football is all they care about. I've always assumed he would not rule out the former. That's why the Alabama situation was unusual. I think Alabama knew their strong football first position and that's why they made the "crazy" offer.

Yeah, I'm just sayin' but it was all part of the discussion about the Alabama job. I imagine we all could have our own interpretation of what he meant. I think it's been known that he had considerable interest in the Texas position which would be another football school. So I think that the myth has been busted.

Yup. Pretty hard to pass up Texas despite all the road blocks. Just don't think Texas would have offered enough, given what WSU came up with, for Marshall to have taken the gamble. I think the key to Smart taking it was the 6 year guarantee which wouldn't have been that important to Gregg given his security at WSU.
