It was one heck of a quality loss right at the perfect time for the Cyclones. Even the 95-96 Bulls probably would've lost 4 or 5 games in the Big 12 this year. It's simply that good.

Maybe next year the committee will give the Big 12 teams automatic 1 seeds instead of those worthless 3 seeds to give them a better chance at advancing?

They already give KU an automatic 2 seed every year.

Wait, all these instances of quality losses raising a team's profile throughout the year have me confused about what losing means. They will be back next round right? Or does losing when it counts mean you don't advance? Surely UAB doesn't get to go to the next round...I mean, this was on a neutral floor and ISU was willing to play the game away from home and it was really close so that should be a wash, I think.
