Hey will the arena have a beer garden? I know they don't let you have any booze inside but during the final four trip all of the arenas did.
If not are there any gathering spots nearby?

No. No beer garden at the arena. Second question about nearby watering holes, are you kidding me? This is Omaha in which you are speaking. We drink. We keep it nearby.
Hilton bar is across the street. If you need to, you can use the Skywalk and get to the hotel bar without going outside. Id personally recommend either the Matt or the Blatt. There will be beer gardens in parking lots, plus the area is loaded with bars. If a bar is too far away for you, well.....
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.
Any good "eating" establishments within walking distance? Not really into drinking, but not looking for something for kids either.
Is this where I insert a Star Trek facepalm picture?
Yes. These places, while bars, serve food. And they serve food to children. There are even barless restaurants within walking distance if you fear your child could become damaged by seeing somebody throwing down a beer. I'd recommend this place: http://www.blattbeer.com/
They serve beer AND food.

Sounds good. We like to take in establishments that are not chains - more of a local flavor.
The area around the arena is not world class, but it's very nice. If you go there to be blown away, you'll be disappointed. At the same time, you can get just about anything you want to eat or drink within six or, gasp, eight blocks. I don't know how many restaurants and bars opened when your arena was built, but the growth here was pretty impressive. 12 or so years ago, this area was an EPA superfund site.

Okay, I thought of the perfect kid friendly place. Right on the edge of walkable distance from the arena, but I don't think this is a place to go right before or after the game. We take our kids here once or twice a year and they love it! And I love taking them. This is a gem, not on the visitors bureau website. They have a limited menu at the ice cream bar, hot dogs and whatnot, you will leave this place smiling.

As a public service announcement to ALL fans attending the Sunday games in Omaha, the four regional sites that day are Charlotte, Columbus, Omaha and Seattle.
The game times (CDT) listed are:
CBS 11:00, 1:30 and 4:00
TNT 5:00, 7:30
TBS 6:00, 8:30
TRU TV 6:30
I'm going out on a limb and guessing the Omaha games will be played at 5:00 & 7:30, please factor that into your travel plans accordingly.
Thank you and GO SHOX!
I plan on taking the long nine mile drive from my apartment to the Clink for some basketball.
I know where the hidden, available, free parking is!!!
